Hello all - What are those of you without the luxury of a garage doing for insurance? I know Hagerty requires a garage and another insured DD. Are there any companies that will insure a '71 in a carport?
I don't think there are many C3 owners here who do not keep their pride and joy in a garage or some other secure place. I know I wouldn't have mine if I didn't have a garage. Mine is a convertible so it is even more prone to vandalism and/or theft but even a coupe makes a good target for the bad element in our society.
Sounds like you might need a good junkyard dog and a Mossberg Persuader.

i just have mine insured with AAA. i cant find any one that will insure me either because of my age (younger then 25-28, seems to be about the min age most of these places will insure at) or it not being in a garage.

I just have the standard classic, but they sent info on all the other stuff.
And they write this stuff into the policy declaration pages, not just some salesman agent giving you the BS to sell the policy and then problems with a later claim.

I'm insured through Country Financial. I have my house, DD and my C3 with them. They will insure my C3 with Classic/Antique insurance but the C3 has to be in great condition and be close to stock specs. I have my car in a carport under a cover and locked at all times, and that is OK with them.
I am in the process of rebuilding my motor and cleaning up the engine bay then will get my C3 insured as a classic.

I would love to provide a quote for anyone in this thread or reading it. I am confident in our rates and in our service. Please give me a call if you would like a quote.
Our Underwriter is American Modern (mentioned above) and we can have an exception made in most states for cars kept in carports.
We are the only Collector Car Insurance provider that is a Supporting Vendor of this forum, and the money that would typically be made by an agent actually stays with the Corvette Museum.
American Collector's from Cherry Hill NJ insures my 79 with a "limited garaging" surcharge included, which essentially applies to carports or light enclosures. Not sure if they have expanded the coverage to SC or not, but worth a call. Under $200 a year, 3000K miles usage (fun allowed, not just shows and parades...), and replacement value of 16K.
Hey, thanks for the responses guys. The question was asked on the behalf of another forum member who was looking at my LT-1 in the F/S forum. He lives in TX, and has a carport, and was concerned about insurability.
If it comes up again Adam, I will direct questions to you! Thanks!
