Default Help!! Where is the Blower Motor Relay (HVAC)

I cannot find the Blower motor relay. My fuses are good so I am down to this. I have the service manuals but they do not show it. My blower is not working at all.

Dave, the blower motor resistor assembly is known to go bad. Quite common. It is located right next to the blower motor un der the passenger dash. I sent you the r&r procedure.

Sorry, I should of included that info to begin with. It's a 99' with a manual system.

I actually have a different problem than the OP. For the last couple of years, speed 1 was the only setting that didn't work, but in the last week they all went out but speed 5. From what I've been reading, the problem is either the resistor or the relay, but can't figure out which.

The resistors on the board are most likely smoked like the ones in the picture:

WHAT PROCEDURE?? Just replace the module on the bottom side of the air box. You can purchase the module from www.gmpartshouse.com Call Gene Culley If you have the duel climate HVAC the module looks the same but is MUCH different inside and is MUCH more expensive.

Someone told me that Autozone may also have it but, I have never checked that out.

Default My blower motor is stuck always On.

I have a similar problem, which I think must be the relay, my blower motor is always ON. It won't go off even when the car is off and the keys have been removed. WTF Over? If this isn't the relay what could cause it to be always on? I got a new relay from AutoZone, but can't find where it is, I think it is on the Firewall behind the Glove Box?

If you have manual HVAC controls,,, there IS a relay BUT,,,,,, it will NOT cause the FAN MOTOR to stay ON:

The relay that your looking for is INSIDE the module that is mounted on the BOTTOM of the air box..

You can dissect that module and you will find that relay in side.. Hey,, maybe you can solder a new one in and save a few bucks. Give it a try!! MAKE SURE THAT YOU DOCUMENT IT!!!!!!! Lots of PICTURES!!!

As you can see, I was able to get my hands on the duel climate module and take it apart. That one failed due to a burned circuit trace.

My HVAC is working intermittently. Both heat/AC. I can turn it on, no lights come on or anything. If I leave it on, it will come on and off when it wants to. Could this be linked to the module also? Thanks Bill!

1997 C5 with dual climate:

After reading all the great posts I ordered new module (opened up to be sure it was the same as pictures). Going to try to replace next week, and wanted to see if you send me the R&R proceedure?
Thanks

2000 with dual climate control. When I first got the car, the fan made a lot of noise when turned up. Didn't sound good. Then I found out the air wasn't working, so had it recharged. Fan was working, but not noisy anymore and not as strong as my '98 was, so I took the battery out and found there was a mouse nest behind the battery and in the intake for the fresh air. Sucked out all the stuff I could see with the vacuum and ran a small hose down into the ducting as much as I could. Now the fan doesn't work at all. I'm thinking it is either jammed up with crap or bit the big one. What's the easiest way to get to the motor? Is there another thread on here that goes into the procedure for getting it out? Thanks! Never mind, I figured it out.

You just need to remove the close out panel and STUFF your head under the passengers side of the dash and look UP. THREE SCREWS, One connection and a rubber air hose and its OUT..

If you had nest material in the air intake opening , you most likely have crap inside the AIR BOX THAT WILL NEED to be extracted... Been there done that!..

Whipped the old one out (well, more like cursed the old one out). Stupid connector behind the motor with it's impossibly short wires gave me fits until I accidentally pushed the right place and the motor fell into my hand. Not much debris back there, must have gotten the vast majority with the vacuum from the other side. Tested the motor when I got it out and no spin. Went and picked up a new one for $60. Took a few tries to get it lined up with the holes correctly. Looks like the mounting holes are symmetrical, but they're not. Now I have a fan again! Thanks to all who've posted about this.

Is it necessary to replace the complete relay/fin set up ?
