I purchased the dual-roof package, one CRY and one clear. I find myself using the clear roof more. However, I have not had it through a summer yet.

I'm a vert owner so I don't have a vote to cast, however I am shopping a new C7Z and I'm considering the two roof option. I live in FL and a friend of mine has a two-roof optioned C7 Arctic White Stingray. He keeps the painted top on 70% of the time during most of the year and definitely during the summer season. However, he swaps out to the transparent top once we turn the clock back in the fall and keeps that transparent top on during the FL winter months when the sun isn't right on top of us like it is during the summer. He actually just swapped back to the painted roof now that we've gone back to DST and the days are heating up. Plus, most of his roof off driving is during the winter and he finds the transparent top easier to work with in removing/installing, etc.

From a looks perspective, I like the painted top better, especially if you have wrap around window tint, however the black transparent top also matches up nicely.

Transparent for me!
It contrasts the LBT very nicely.
"Enlarges" the interior.
Enhances the appearance IMHO.

I love mine and have not found it to be too hot -though I live in the northeast, we've had some hot spells in the last couple of summers. When I bought mine I looked it over from the exterior for a long time and didn't even realize it had the transparent top until I sat in it... it really just blended with the rest of my Corvette paint job.

As a former C5 convertible owner, I since didn't like the lines of the C7 in the convertible, I bought the coupe with the body color roof because in red I like the flowing roof line. If I had a dark color car the clear roof would have been my choice. But honestly, I only drive the car on nice days and always take the roof off anyway, and get 90% of the convertible feel.

I have the solid painted roof, but kind of wish I had the transparent roof. I think the transparent roof would go good with my Velocity Yellow and I think the see try roof opens up the inside of the car.

My C5 came with the transparent top, and I bought a painted top to have both. I liked the light of the transparent at first, but the novelty wore off after awhile and I switched to the painted and never looked back. For me, the transparent was too hot in the Texas sun 6 months out of the year, and I much preferred the look of the car with the painted top. To each his own.

I have 2 roofs- 1 exposed carbon fiber the other is a clear.. I bought a corvette case to hold the second roof so I could use the trunk. I had the top on for about a week... OK. I just dig the Carbon Fiber look of that top. Not sure if I'll use it in summer yet ?? Maybe .. Might just sell the clear one..

I have had a lot of new Corvettes going back to 1972. All but one of them have been Coupes. I prefer the transparent top as it gives me a little more head room. I used to order the dual top option but found I just let the painted top sit and never got used so now I only get the transparent top. I have had the 15 for a year now and have never taken the top off. In one of the e mails I get for Corvette accessories I saw where the static cling piece is available for 40 or $45 dollars now. To each their own ...

Be prepared to pay through the nose for it unless you can find a good deal on a used one.

I have both tops for my C7, and never use the painted top at all after the first week - just hanging on the wall in my garage in a storage bag.

For me, I like the way it breaks up the color, and we really like the more open feeling you get from the transparency.

I'm also satisfied that the transparent top is not 'hotter' than the painted top. I kept reading that the trans tops are much worse than painted in letting the heat in, and I just didn't experience that, so here's what I did to find out:

I put the painted top on, cooled the interior off to 70 degrees, and let it bake in the direct sunlight for 2 hours on a 96 degree day. I then put the trans top on, cooled the interior to 70 degrees, and let it bake for just over 2 hours in the direct sun - outside temp had increased to 97 degrees. There was a 3 degree difference on interior temp - a bit hotter with trans top, but it also baked about 20 minutes longer. Another control vehicle was my 2014 SRX. Did same thing on it with the sunshade shut on the same day. It was 4 degrees cooler than the trans top reading.

My conclusion: hot is hot. Didn't really matter which top was on, and it was essentially the same temp reading as my SRX. Maybe the older series Cs trans tops were worse?

One day a week during the summer I leave it parked out in the direct sun for 5-6 hours, and the outside temps are mid-90s into the low hundreds. I've never had trouble getting it to cool down. I drive with the windows down for a minute or so with the air up high, then close the windows and the a/c keeps up no problem.

Another thing I've started doing when the car has been baking for a long time: when I shut it down I leave the a/c temp low and the fan up high. About 10 minutes prior to going out to the car I use the OnStar app to remote start the car. Nice and comfortable when I get to it.

We really like the transparent top, and it's great for road trips too. But it really comes down to personal preference - and that's the great thing about options.

sans using the Onstar app (just use my fob).
Never any heat issues with or without the transparent roof.
Sometimes yes, when driving at high sun (noon? ), you do feel the heat thru the transparent top. Just keep driving!

Again, would much prefer a fixed, painted roof. Transparent roof never comes off, never used it in the C6's either (came with dual roofs, transparent roofs gathered dust in the closets).

I got my car with the exposed carbon fiber roof, and love the way it looks. Never thought about the transparent roof, but a friend with a new C7 had some coupons from GM due to a previous car issue, so he had a new transparent roof he sold to me at a great price.

To your question - I do like the transparent roof as it gives a brighter more open air feel to the car. I put it on in the fall and keep it until Spring, when the exposed CF roof goes back on due to the hot sun. I'm glad I have both tops. If you pick up a transparent roof, I think you'll also like having both for the reasons I stated.

Love it, always open air feeling and blue skies. I am tall, so I don't feel cramped.
