Anyone have any tricks to get those pesky clips on new brake hoses. Replacing rear brake hoses, lines and calipers. But I can't for the life of me get enough of the hose end thru the bracket (welded to frame) to get the clip on. Maybe it is the aftermarket hoses???? I also did a parking brake rebuild while in there. Only thing holding me up are those darn clips. Thanks
I just did all new brakes on my 74 convertible. I had the same issue. I just used a small file and made the holes a little bigger on the edges. dale in montana
Hi,
The clips can be put on upside down… does it seem you have them correctly oriented?
I use a small ball-peen hammer to tap the clip in into place.

Thanks J Reacher....Alan ..I bought the four hoses. Which go in the back? Long or short? I put the short ones in the back. The clip
I am having an issue with is the one down where the steel line to caliper goes
Does it look like 'mickey mouse' ears? Those are mickey mouse clips... lol. Anyways they should just push on. Mine did anyway and I just did it. Might have to wiggle the hose a little.
Rotate the hose a bit. The fitting has a star like shape and needs to be lined up just right, IIIRC on flat is different than the others. Once you have it in the correct slot, you will know.
Hi 78,
Long hoses are for the front brakes.
The mickey type clips aren't used on the rubber brake lines but are used in securing the e-brake cable.

Alan

Follow Alan's suggestion, plus- clean the bracket welded to the car frame to get all dirt, rust and undercoating removed from the flat surfaces and the hole in the bracket. You may need to wire brush and scrape it. There isn't much extra clearance to get the hose thru the bracket far enough to allow the slot in the hose fitting to engage the clip. A little dirt or rust will screw it up.
Couple of years ago, I purchesed a set of hoses off E-Bay. I thought then, that I had gotten a great buy. The ends were too large to fit all the way thru the brackets, you could not get the clips on. Bought a set from AA, and they worked perfectly.
