Default post um if you got um 68-72 W sidepipes pics

Ive loved the chrome bumper stingrays since I was 9. But to me, sidepipes add a finishing touch, please post a pic of your baby if you have pipes.

Hi GTO,
Gone but NOT forgotten.
Loved them in 71-72, but not as much in 2010.
Regards,
Alan

Just curious, why were they available for only a short period of time from the factory and were they available on other muscle cars of that era?

not sure if it's true but some GM executive's wife got a leg burn which ended them and they did not come back on any car from the factory until the Dodge Viper.

Hi,
You couldn't burn your leg when the shields (covers) were in place.
I've read that they were stopped because of a noise issue? BB cars with the side exhaust were REALLY, REALLY loud.
I would love to know what a 70 LT-! with side exhaust would have sounded like!
Regards,
Alan

I also believe Ralph Nader helped with this and the pop out rear back window. Exhaust gasses entering the cabin.

Before: 'outdated' sidepipes using the factory exhaust manifold. After: Dougs ceramic coated headers and side pipes.

Tom, any more pics of the filler panel in the back? Permanently glassed in and painted, etc.?
