74 Corvette / sbc. Im going to go with a Fitech setup. I really would rather have an in tank fuel pump. Inline is an option I'd take as a last resort. Can I use a 82 crossfire fuel sending unit and 255 walbro (or oem alternative capable of 58 psi max) and will that be a direct fit for my 74 gas tank location? I see that newer c3's have a top mounted fuel sender.

Basically, can I stick a Newer C3 fuel tank into my 74 and it bolt up in place of my stock gas tank? Oem fuel pump suited for the application?

Any idea that get me out of buying a efi gas tank? Or even better using my stock tank?

I installed a FAST EZ 1.0 in my '80 with an in-tank Walbro 255 and '82 sender modified for a 3/8 return line required for the FAST EZ EFI.

Let me know if you want more info.

Fitech makes a couple of different surge tank setups, there is one that you can feed with your stock pump.

Default where is the sender on a 74?

I installed a Bronco fuel pump in my 68 and I am still using the original fuel level sender installed on the bottom of my tank. I used a Bronco fuel pump because I used to own a 90 Bronco and I knew what it looked like, it's a canister pump assembly, and the fuel returns to the canister.... I have never lost suction (unlike my old inline pump for my Holley pro-jection which used to lose suction whenever I took a corner fast with less than 1/4 tank).

If I were to do it today I would use an 82 sending unit holder instead of doing all that fabricating..... but I'd still use some sort of canister pump to avoid the losing-suction issue.

If your 74 has a large fuel access hole then you have many options.
Some pictures here.

What 60 Shark posted will not work with a '74 gas tank; 68-74 tanks are different than the later models.

You have a few choices with a stock '74 tank:

New FI tank from Tanks Inc:

http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/pa...rod/prd443.htm

Tanks Inc retro-fit fuel pump module:

http://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/pa...prod/prd84.htm

Aeromotive Phantom Stealth retro-fit module:

Vetteworks retro-fit kit:

http://www.vetteworksonline.net/ls1_conversion_fuel.htm

Rock Valley retro fit module:

http://www.rockvalleyantiqueautoparts.com/catalog.htm

Rock Valley has it listed under "Tune Port Information and Kits" on their website; but you are better off calling them with your exact needs.

I went with the stainless Rock Valley retro-fit fuel pump module on my '72 when I converted to EFI with the FAST Ez-Efi system. This is a pic of my finished tank:
