The back will likely be the make or break of the design. When I think of sexy rear ends of high performance cars in the last decade or so, the C7 Corvette comes in near last in my mind.

There is definitely painting over the rear facia, but we do know what that looks like. I am sure the final version will be much tighter and sleeker looking
I sure hope you are right... I know GM likes big engines but you can make tons of power without a 9.5L V8 and then design a car that looks awesome and still performs well.

I think the rear in the spy shots is way too long and limo like... hope it's tighter in real life.

Default Hey FVS--Duct question

Look at the pic of the door open with the engineer trying to cover up. 126, 127 of this thread. Zoom in further on the door. (can't upload it for some reason) That's a lot of structure to ensure an opening for airflow. It even looks like there could be permanent duct structure built into exterior of the door. Where does the door end and the camo support structure begin? Are we shoving the duct too far aft?

That channel in the door definitely reveals the intake duct’s shape and size. IMO, it looks like a piece that the prototype team integrated into the doors to conceal the design. I’m also interested to hear what FVS thinks of it.

Hey FVS, how is the side shot rendering coming? Would you maybe post what you got so far? We are all anxious!

I concur. But close examination suggests TWO structures that could be interpreted as one, a camo element and two, a separate, permanent piece.

Not sayin' it's so. Just sayin...

For the side scoop, here is pic to show the "apparent" shape and position of the intake. It does "seem" to start deep in the door and the door does look very thick. No doubt some is padding but may still be a thick door.

Note the beveled/angle shapes that seem to relate to the door lines in the renders and pimps description. Will be interesting to see the final result!

As far as the scoop being too far aft... It is placed on my renders according to the CAD, Pimp's drawing and comments and the best side spy image where the apparent outline can be seen. This is the best guess we can have until more is revealed.

Also note the bottom image. The top of the rear fender seems to show a depressed area that "suggests" a side/top fender intake as seen in the CAD. It could open like a cross between the c7 and 488 intakes.

I know...the thirst is real!

I have not heard from pimp since the last post he made here almost 2 weeks ago. I have sent several renders and notes but no reply so far...we can only assume his position has been compromised and we must disavow any knowledge of his actions...

I know you guys are suffering with all the waiting.

I will post the un-pimped versions I have developed while waiting and we can revise when pimp surfaces again.

Keep Pimp in your thoughts... ...and keep your heads down...we may all be in GM's sights!...

We are on high alert. ...get ready to scramble f-16 !

The rear roof line looks to me like it's just the fabric stretched taut between the aft end of the B pillar and the rear deck.

When the fabric became disconnected from the B pillar it collapsed onto the rear deck.

So, this probably is the winged black mule seen previously. It's probably got the new nose and rear of the mules seen in the wild.

I doubt the final C8 will have a flat rear window like the Porsche.

Why not?

My 1969 Coupe(not my car in the photo) has a vertical rear window, and if you put a car cover on it, it would appear to be a fastback with a slanted rear glass.

If you look again at photos I posted you'll see there are no rear buttresses visible, unlike your C3.

This is the Porsche I'm talking about.

From what I’ve seen on this thread ,and various spy pictures...I believe both the Y1 and Y2 cars are mid engined ,
with one of them being the coupe and the other the retractable metal roof convertible .

Very well could be with the vert camouflaged to look like the coupe.

Here's a series of shots that show how the roof line collapses once they start covering the car.

I've added a red arrow that highlights a wrinkle in the roof line visible in the first two photos that disappears in the third.

Here's the shot again with the aft side of the B pillar that shows that the roof abruptly ends and some sort of hardware on the aft side of the roof. The hardware we're seeing is probably the camo attachment points.

Just so everyone is aware, they put fake body pieces under those tarps to hide the real lines of the car, so I wouldn't read in to it too much until we can see the car without the tarps.

the corvette team does too good a job disguising the c8 but it does make for high levels of anticipation..

I check everyday and laugh

I see small differences between the coupe and the convertible spy pictures, regardless of the camouflage,
hence they have 2 different chassis designations y1 and y2.
i don’t believe the front engine carryover rumours .

OK. I have still not heard back from C7Pimp but can't stand you guys begging anymore...

I am posting these views with the understanding that Pimp has not commented on any of them except the front view. They should not be too far off since they do have the same features and match the earlier iso view Pimp said was close.

I am sure many of the features are not 100% correct and that the real car will be much more refined and exotic.

I include a vert/GT/zr1 xtreem concept version with a Carrera style rear deck for fun and imagination. Not likely but maybe something similar may be going on under that spy tarp.

Looking forward to Pimp's comments and I will correct as needed when he comes around and I will post hi res single images.

Let me know what you think!
