Replacement for "screen" button?
Is there a replacement button, or decent looking sticker to cover it that says something else? Most people would never find the hidden compartment in the car if that looked like a rear defrost button, for example.

I really want to relocate the button somewhere hidden like under the seat. My best guess is ultimately it's probably not worth it to relocate as I'm sure the whole dash would have to come out. You could probably plastidip the button to cover the letters up. Just make sure you tape everything off real well.

There's no way someone who doesn't know about that screen finds it during a breakin and no chance they skip it if they already know about it.
In the computer world, we have a rule about no "security through obfuscation" (ie: hiding something doesn't count as securing it).
Can't hurt, in other words, but I doubt blanking the button would really buy you much.

To add to this, the car has to be on (or at least in accessory on mode which requires you to hold the start button down for 5 seconds) before the screen will even come down, so I doubt anyone who doesn't have a corvette will know to do this even if they see the big pretty "SCREEN" button.

Try locking the car with the windows down, leaving it sit for about 10 minutes and then come back and reach in and press the screen button without unlocking the car and without the FOB around (leave the FOB in the house). May have to turn off the motion sensors for the alarm if you have it on.

Doesn't the power stay on for a few minutes after leaving the car? Might need to test by leaving the windows down, lock the car, and let it sit for like 5 minutes. Then come back and reach in the car, press the screen down button and see what happens. May have to turn off the motion sensor for the alarm if you have it on.

If you park, you can listen to radio, etc for approx. 10 mins., then it shuts down. Once you park & open door, ACCESS shuts down immediately. If you are in the diagnostic mode (holding start button for approx. 10 secs.), then yes it stays in that mode & will drain the battery.

PS: Just tried this, unlocked car, moved FOB out of range, came back after 2 mins. & opened door. Interior lites did come on & center dash lit up also. Screen came down when switch pushed. So-o-o, I'd surmise that ANYONE who breaks in & opens door will have access to opening screen but not if locked in Valet mode. Ain't this fun?

Or, if you have a manual transmission, leave the gearshift in "Reverse" and the Screen button is disabled, even when car is powered off. Even most Corvette owners don't know about this 'feature'.
