Calling it tacky was a dig at the beancounters at GM. Here's how I imagine it went down:
[Scene - GM Design meeting, 1977]
GM Exec - We need something to differentiate the Pace Car from the other Corvettes if we want people to hoard them and never drive them.
GM Engineer - How about a functional rear spoiler, and a redesigned front end to improve aero and cooling? And make the car lighter, too!
GM Exec - GTFO of this meeting! We just spent a ton of money on a rear window that doesn't even open, and some plastic bits in the interior
GM Engineer (leaving) - And a glove box!
GM Exec - Get out! (writes notes to suggest these changes for the 1980 model year, and take credit for the idea)
GM Intern 1 - How about some stickers for the side?
GM Intern 2 - And slap on some spoilers!
GM Exec - I like it. How would we attach these things?
GM Intern 1 - More sticky stuff?
GM Intern 2 - Exactly! Something really tacky. Like blue-tack. You know, the stuff that folks who drive on the wrong side of the road use to hang posters in dorm rooms. Maybe 3M makes something equivalent. And in the front, we can drill holes right in the fenders!
GM Exec - Brilliant! Make it happen.
Meanwhile here's the coolest add-on spoiler I've found on the internet.
Can you include more pics on the console?
I want to do something similar, but would like to somehow incorporate at least one cup holder into the mix, but not the cheap looking aftermarket cup holders that get placed by the parking brake lever.

They look natural there and it makes a really nice clean mod.

Honestly, the personalizing of this 70 has been a blast. I really enjoy the "making it mine" thing.
A couple years back, I had the opportunity to buy a 1980 with 16,000 original miles. The thing was perfect, but I knew I'd never be able to modify anything as "survivor - original" as it was, so I passed. No regrets. I dig the chrome bumper c3 so much more anyway.
Keep those mods coming.
They shoulda kept the 68/69 shark fin grills, though.
. lowered , probably too low. i'll raise it when i knock the spoiler off the front. subtle rear flares , short bb hood , side exhaust , wheels , blacked out anything shiny , antennae delete , obviously the nose and tail and a few i forget. not everyone's cup of tea but i like it.

If your gonna be a dink, at least spell correctly.
Yeah, I'm making the headers. Nobody makes anything that remotely looks like the movie car, plus it has an LS in it, so all custom from the flanges out. I have the lower fender pieces, but haven't mounted them until I figure out where the primary tubes are going to be coming out.
It will be LHD. I'm not getting into all that crap switching every over to the right. Started planning it out, and decided with how much I want to drive the car, it wasn't worth it.
