3D Printing Files for C3 Corvettes - Comprehensive Index
Extremely long-time lurker. Have had a 1971 T-Top for over 20 years and not done much with it. Just ordered a carpet set for it and getting ready to do some interior work.
I'm --not-- caring about originality, as my 12-year-old daughter has claimed the car since she was 4. Anyway, I'd like to start replacing some of the interior trim with some "upgraded" pieces/parts - I 3D print a TON of stuff for other things and started looking around for .stl files specific to the C3's (1971 exactly) can't find much of anything.
Would be very interested to see if anyone here has scanned/fabricated/printed any of their own customer C3 interior trim pieces (excluding the radio bezel and cup holders, which are everywhere). Anything from vacuum canisters (in PETG or ABS, or PA6-CF profiles) to door handles, to T-Top aligners, to rear compartment buckets, liners, and surrounds. Literally anything inside of a 1971.
I'd like to have folks drop links to .3mf, .stl, .obj or other 3D format files for C3 parts in this thread - and hoping that it eventually fills up, I can index everything by year and part and provide the forums with a comprehensive database of available 3D printed files for these cars.
Excellent idea.
I've only printed one thing which was the tiny pulleys that are part of the heater controls (I'm referring to the ones in the below pic that are white at each end, although mine that I printed are black). They didn't come out perfect, but they did the job. When I pulled my control apart to rebuild it a few months ago, one string was broken and the pully was gone, so I used braided fishing line to replace the string (which was a great replacement) and printed a new pulley.
I'll get the .stl file from my son and attach it in the next couple of days.
BTW, I have about 10 extra, if anyone needs one, let me know I'll drop it in an envelope for free.
I joined the forum just for this repository! Nothing to add yet, but I am sure I’ll add down the road! Hopefully this will pickup!
I am really hoping to scan and model Front bumpers from 68-72’ vettes and provide stl’s for modifying 73-82 for those who want a “lookalike” bolt on part. I know there are always those who say get the 68-72, but if you have chromie taste on Urethane budget, a 3D printed option may fit the bill. I also like the engineering challenge!
my wife has numerous 3D printers and resin printers and makes me anything I need for my cars (She is brilliant at modelling) which comes in handy
makes so many custom fitting I use in my garage and around the house also
3D printing has been a bad habit of my Son and Son-in-law both and I benefit. The original parts were a bit flimsy and soft but with Nylon Filament we can make parts that last for a while. The newer filament materials are awesome and even though they use different temperatures they are very useful for a variety of applications both indoors and out.
I like using the 3D printers for making prototypes and then make them out of another material. I made some clamps to mount a fairing on my old motorcycle and it was great and they really worked well. So well in fact that I gave up on making them out of metal and would continue using the Nylon parts I made with the printer.
Today they even print teeth for those getting dentures, they can have them ready in little time and they cost less to make.
