Default Seat belt anchor cables

Did our 64 cars come with the seatbelt under car cable reinforcements that connect the belts to the frame?
I bought the kit to do the anchoring but notice now they’re marketed for 65-67. Were they used on the 63-64’s and if not has anyone put them on? What’s involved?

Hi,

I believe that the -64 did not have the anchor cables. They came on the -65, or maybe the -66.

‘64 used an inner body mount.

This is the inner body mount on the driver side on my ‘64 coupe. The bracket on the frame utilizes a caged nut the to secure the bolt from the interior. It passes through an L-shaped bracket riveted to the floor of the body. The vertical part of the L-shaped bracket is threaded and accepts the seatbelt shoulder bolts. Body mount #3 performs the same function for the outer belt.

Thanks. I have the corner mounts with side seatbelt bolts and it’s bolted to the caged nut brace underneath. I thought that was just another body mount for 63/64 and not involved in the seatbelt safety. I didn’t think the corner reinforcement would hold up in a crash but guess I’m wrong.
Thanks for the picture. It was very helpful!

You're probably correct, hence the change in later years to add the reinforcement cables. But, then again, if safety were a primary concern none of us would be driving these cars in todays world

Later Dated 64 frames were built with mid frame corner gussets. But I'm not sure if cables were introduced then, also. I believe 64's only had the center frame brackets for bolt terminations. These are assumptions on my part!

Did you manage to get them installed? I have a '66 chassis under my '64. The center cable was easy, but the side ones don't seem to fit between the gusset and the body. It appears it may be necessary to loosen the mounts and jack the body up one side at a time to slip the cable under. Or am I missing something? I'm not at the shop now but can take pics within a day or so to illustrate if it helps illustrate.

Don
The attached pdfs show the seat belt mounts in our '65. I don't think you can get those outer corner mounts in under the gussets without lifting the body.
I recall there was some discussion of this issue a while back. I think this is the thread: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ng-1965-a.html

No, I’ve not installed them yet and not sure I will but it might be a job for winter downtime “fun”.
