Default Wiper Arm Washer Tubes

My wiper arms are believed to be the originals for my '71, but I'm questioning the set up.

Passenger's on left - Driver's on right
Passenger's on left - Driver's on right

The driver's tube is routed so the cupped end of the hold down tab actually holds the tube against the wiper arm.

The passenger's tube is routed so it runs under the hold down tab between the tab's rivet and the cupped end. It does not run thru the "cup." The hold down tab actually appears to be riveted in place upside down from what I'd expect. The AIM doesn't show enough detail for me to see how they should be.

Is this "normal" factory configuration for similar year C3s?

Thanks

Hello n8,
Here are a few photos of 71 'tubes'.
Hopefully they'll help you determine just what you have at this point.
Regards.....

The old Paragon catalogues have a nice drawing showing the various clips and just where they snap onto the arms.

Hello ACNH,
The drawing you posted is from the Paragon catalogue.
Thanks for doing that!

The Paragon drawing appears to show the nozzle tube not soldered to the "cup" on the arm. Both of my tubes are soldered to the wiper arm. The NCRS guide for 68-69 shows them soldered.
I don't know why GM would make a piece and then not solder it together, but they have done other things that make me scratch my head.

Thanks guys that's exactly what I need to know and see. It seems that my tubes are routed normally except that the solder on the right side must have broken loose. The tube was then removed from the hold down tab's cup and then the hold down tab was rotated so that it passes over the tube and holds it in position without being soldered. After reconditioning the arms I'll solder the tube back in the correct position.

Now I just need to track down and order the various missing little plastic clips!

Hello,
I repaired a set of arms and tubes for someone and both showed a solder connection although one side had broken loose.
Regards....

Trying to duplicate the thin black coating on the arms with black oxide.
Have to remove the coating from the tubes and other parts of the arms that weren't black

The Paragon catalog was replete with uniquely detailed drawings. I wish Corvette Central, having bought out Paragon, would have adopted and maintained their catalog drawings.

Hello,
Paragon was started by Richard Fortier.
A man with unfailingly accurate parts knowledge.
He was able to offer the 69 side exhaust system!
He also offered very accurate exhaust tips for 70-72 cars. (He even controlled the prep and plating so the finished product wasn't too perfect).
The 2 most important sources for parts information were/are Dr.Rebuild and Paragon.
Regards....

These are the result of his efforts.
He even built a thin plywood box to ship them in!!!
Note the 'tab' on the front and the width of the black stripe.
