Default Reprogramming Keys w/o a programmed FOB

Folks, in a bit of an emergency here. Was selling my car this morning (was supposed to anyways) and decided to replace the batteries in both my FOBs. This resulted in both being deprogrammed. I have done this before w/o any real issue and i know where the guides are but cannot get it to work.

When access the vehicle from the trunk with the key the alarm goes off. I have set it off like 4 times and i am sure my neighbors are annoyed. Is that normal? Anyway to avoid it?

I have seen in the instructions to keep any ‘old’ fobs away from the car when rotating the key five times. But none are programmed so is that any fobs?

Is there a like ‘lock out’ period after an unsuccessful programming attempt? The first time I tried I ‘think’ I got the programming cue but by the time I went over and grabbed the fob and got into the car it was gone. And after that rotating the key five times and the screen stayed blank.

Any help would be apppreciated.

DO NOT REPROGRAM THE FOBS YET!!!!

Changing batteries will NOT unpair a fob from the car. You likely purchased bad batteries or installed the batteries incorrectly. All of the pairing information is stored in the car. Nothing in the fob changes during "programming."

Check the 2032 battery voltage - should be above 3.25 volts. Fobs will typically work down to around 3.05 volts.

Put the car on a battery tender if possible...

See pic for correct battery orientation. The POSITIVE side of the battery has the printed part number...

If the fobs worked with the old batteries - try putting the old battery back into one of the fobs. If still no joy, you may have to repair (program) the fobs. Nothing in the fobs really changes - the procedure stores fob information in the car. Just like pairing Bluetooth ear buds to your phone.

Yes, the alarm will go off. I don't think there is a timeout after a failed programming event. I do recall that the key timing is a pain to get just right.

If you do try reprogramming, remember that the long method has 10 minute pauses.
