Default Happy Birthday

Now you will no longer have birthdays but will start with anniversaries of this significant event. Women stop at 29 and men at 39. I celebrated by 16th anniversary last August!

There's this crazy thing on Rt. 15 up in New York where they have two lanes going in each direction, and it's divided. Somebody put grass all over this "median" and a truck decided to nudge me into getting a really close look at the grass.

I should've sped past the truck but it tricked me. I ended up spinning around twice counter-clockwise on the grass and gravel median. It was also V shaped, so I went down the one side and up the other side toward oncoming traffic. The obvious damage was just the coolant overflow tank had a hole in it, and the front driver tire was shredded.

When I got home, the insurance company started fixing it and stopped fixing it once it was drivable, but certainly not perfect. I know now that two of the rims are out-of-round and I'm not sure how bad those would affect anything, but it seems like there's something else wrong.

damn, that sucks. Bring it by and we can put it on the lift and take a look. Did you settle with your insurance company already?

Why did the insurance company stop at that point? Was that your insurance or the other person's? No matter, it should of been fixed completely.
Glad everyone is okay. I hate those unintentionally modifications.

They said it was fixed because there was no way to prove that the small things that were still wrong were related to the spinning around on the median. They also said it would pass the safety inspection and everything so it was fine.... and progressive blows me @$$.... I would switch, but the rate would be so much higher....

The weekend of the 16th I'm going to be in West Virginia at a cabin. Damn prior engagements.

If we could meet up some other time that'd be great! I want to get it back to perfect before the mountains. That will probably mean getting some new rims at great expense, but what can 'ya do?

If you're running stock rims you might find a good pair, or full set, used on here. Lots of owners just want something back after buying aftermarket upgrades. I got a set of 4 sawblades for only $400.

I'm going to see if I can get them repaired at a really good rim shop in MD. A friend of mine said they are good at re-rounding rims to make them balance nicely, and they only charge $115ish per rim.

On the other hand....

If it's the shop in Elkridge(?) where some Callaway owners have had Dymags reconditioned, then by all means do it. Check with Chris to see if it's the same shop he was posting about.

My used wheel deal was from C4 parts/Wanted here with a local owner. Within driving distance, off a 96, and in better condition than my original wheels. I just don't trust the long distance Ebay thing. But then I'm old and crusty, and distrustful of strangers.

You guys convinced me to bang on my insurance company and it turns out that after whining for a while, they're gonna pick up the tab for getting the wheels fixed.

Additionally, I'm going to buy new rims from a friend of mine in the area that I've dealt with a few times in the past. He has a really nice set of ZR-1 replicas that are closer to GM specs than the ones I have. I'll probably be selling the old set, fixed rims and good rims, on the forum soon so pay for all this crap. I figure there's gotta be someone out there autoxing that will want some functional but not-so-pretty rims for pretty cheap.

I HOPE THIS FIXES THE JIGGLES AND VIBRATIONS!!!!

....after reading about them in this thread, I don't want 'em. Besides, I now have a set.

...as I just closed a deal a few days ago on a spare set of used '94 sawblades w/ Victoracers for $450.

Would have been nice to have saved an extra $200. Oh well.
