Well, the power was there... as long as I hit the gas pedal correctly... which wasn't very often.

What would happen (well the best I can describe it anyway) was that either the traction control system would kick in and hold it back. Or if the TCS was off, then I would hit it too hard and be all over the place. OR the auto tranny/computer wouldn't make up it's mind what gear it wanted to be in and it would hesitate or buck back and forth between gears while deciding.

Now keep in mind, any or all of these problems could be myself as much as they could be the car and/or the way it is currently set up.

That being said... I am still very curious about this boost controller you keep mentioning. I am trying to get in touch with Lingenfelter and find out more about the actual set up of this car.

You should not be driving the car at all...therefore I will lend you my lowly GTO while you can practice and I will see if I can get your car set up for you properly...I'll only need the car for about the next (6) months thats all

You hit the nail on the head...the car is probably not set-up for road and/or Auto-x courses. Find out exactly what the car is set-up for (ie. Suspension and Brake setting esp.) Too be honest there is no "perfect" set-up for everything anyway. Especially with as much power as you have on tap there will always be trade-offs bettween comfort on the road/Drag Performance/ Road Course/ Auto-X performance. Like I said before with all joking aside I will never profess to be 100% knowledgable in all of these area..IN FACT I would be VERY sceptical of anyone who claims that they have everything figures out...becuase they don't.

I can speak for the rest of the TEAM RCG when I say that we are delighted to see you come out and drive the car the way it was meant to be driven. Be paitent and learn

One thing to think about is that without "competition mode" you will ALWAYS have to turn the TCS off. It's very intrusive on a stock car, let alone the power you have--sorta like overload to it.

As far as the tranny goes, the PCM "learns" your driving habits after a while. It really affects the A4s and the way they shift no matter what mods you have. Try and reset the pcm from the dash. Since that car was in the hands of the original owner, he might have been "easy" on it and that's why it's shifting like that.

Thats a good point I miised what Mike said in his reply. You definately need to take the Traction Control Off. It will mess you up big time. Now the later model C5's adn Z06's have the competion mode which shuts off the Traction Control but still give you Vehicle Dynamic controls like real time Yaw control.

Another thing to look for is that being it more then likely was set-up as a Drag car the shift points are probably VERY stiff. Example when I had the Supercharger put on the GTO my tuner put in a .05 second shift. The car (with less power than yours) would literally spin the tire every single time at PART THROTTLE no less when going from 1st to 2nd. He had to change the shift time to .3 seconds just so I could drive around town

With quick stiff shift points on a your car...if the car shifted gears mid corner It would be a miracle if you could keep it on the road....and that is "probably" the reason why your traction control is kicking in on the road course

As I said before: With the TCS off you will have to learn the fine art of throttle control. Shift firmness should not be that big of a factor. It's all that hp on a TCS system that's built to handle 350hp and it can't keep up.

When I first got my blower, I rode with TCS on and the back wheels turned black from brake dust!

Reset that pcm and put some spirited miles on it on a curvey road

Oh yeah, this is just friggin great....

So I go out and start up the vette and I get three cheerful messages.

Service Active Handling
Service ABS
Service Traction System

Woohoo... fun.

Oh yeah, it seems to be leaking transmission fluid also, mostly near the rear of the car, but also some from up front.

What happened overnight? The vette gnomes come out and start breaking stuff?!

I had that happen a couple of times when I had an automatic, it would always go away once I cycled the ignition off then back on. Hope it is the same for yours.
