Got really bad news today. The insurance company called and left a message on my phone. Apparently when I went over the curb I did enough damage to the sub frame and undercarrage for them to consider the car TOTALED!!!!

What are my options from here????? Someone told me I can buy the car back and get it fixed on my own but would that make it a salvage? I don't want to let this car go. Please I need some help

Sorry to hear it...............You can ask about the buy back.
Post/send me some pics of the damage & I can give you my opinion.

Just left the auto shop. They are giving me 13+ for the car. Minus my deductable and the $1600 buy back I'm getting 11,535. This will pay off the loan and begin repairs.

Still trying to find out what is going to happen to the title. I really don't want SALVAGE stamped across it.

Bernie,

Those rims/tires are looking good right now.

Will keep y'all informed on progress.

Think positive,
Tim

P.S. Anyone know a good fiberglass repair shop?

Little mix-up between me and a curb. I got to look at it and the damage underneath is not good but can be fixed. The Leaf springs ar cracked, front end is shifted, holes in floor pannels, and some more undercarrage damage.

You going to Hooters? If so will tell you all about it there

You know....

Now that I hear what all got dammaged, I had a crazy thought come to mind:

Since almost everything you mentioned is a part that VBP sells aftermarket replacement for... Talk to Greg and see if he can hook you up with the people to get you sponsored by them.
Maybe you can work it to get the parts for free if you build it into a track car.

Then even the salvage on the title wouldn't matter.

- Just a thought.

Don't know yet. We're doing another system migration that weekend, and it will depend on what time we finish up. I may be at Hooters or at home in a coma.

You can read the post in the Rat Pack Hooters third stop thread. Posted there what happened.

Estamate says over 10k in damage. I have a maechanic I trust to do the work. Should cost about 1/2 that.

Sorry Fozzy not going to turn it into a track car. Debi said she'd string me up if I did.

P.S. One piece of good news out of all this......There will be a new Rat Pack member due to join us March 26th.

Man, that blows. Personally I would build it back up, but if its too bad, just go for a C5, or just another C4!

The car will only get a salvage title if the insurance company owns the car. If you do the buy back the title will always remain in your pocession. They will just deduct the buyback from what they are paying you. If you just have some suspension damage the car is no where near totalled, you just have to factor in what the body shop is charging and to the insurance company the car is a 94 and not worth the investment to fix. I should have everything to fix it if you want to give me a calls on Monday.

Because all other Corvettes are crap... duh

Glad you bought it back... I was a GEICO adjuster for over 2 years. Since you've "got a guy" you can get it fixed for a good deal.

However, the insurance company has to make the car 100% perfect and pay body shop labor rates. This means if say a subrame is bent a little and you're ok w/ that the insurance co. still has to pay to replace it... just an example of why their estimate is higher and why the car got totalled.

Like mentioned... the title won't get branded b/c you never gave it up etc.
