Re: Fall Foliage Cruise - Route Selection (Aviator)
Greetings from San Francisco. Finally got the lap top up and running after a weeks illness with the Nimbda virus :mad
Looks like Sunday may work for some folks. Let's see what kind of interest we have over the next week or so and we can try and finalize plans.
Does the route I posted look okay? Roz and I did about 2/3 of the route last weekend and had a blast. Since's it's 190 miles, perhaps we should either cut it shorter, or definitely leave early.
Mike and Dad:
Nimbus is back with us today, doing fine but with a nasty scar. Everything is back to normal -- same eating, same drinking, same hyperactivity!
Thanks for asking. I assume I'll see you on the 14th.
P.S. DAD -- Why don't you post the picture of Nimbus you took with the digital camera 2 weeks ago?
Glad Hairball is doing ok. I like the Hairball name better than Nimbus. What's a Nimbus? :jester Do you think Ingrid would like changing his name?
Nimbus ~ luminous radiance; crown of light; ring of light; corona; aurora; halo
Hey, if you want Nimbus to be truly luminous radiant, bring him with you the next time you visit Waynesboro. My neighbor across the street operates the nuclear generator outside of town and I'm sure we can figure out a way for Nimbus to "really glow" ;)
(1) Mike -- I will let you negotiate with Ingrid directly about changing Nimbus's name. Good luck!
(2) George -- Nimbus is already hyperactive enough that I suspect he's nuclear powered. I am afraid that additional radioactivity exposure would only strengthen his evil powers.
Re: Fall Foliage Cruise - Route Selection (Aviator)
Not looking good for the tuband family to join up ... car may be ready to drive by that weekend, but don't know if I want to be very far away from home until I'm totally sure everything is OK.
Re: Fall Foliage Cruise - Route Selection (acepilot)
Is this event still on? Wife says she's a no-go, but I am going to take one of my neighbors kids if we're still doing this. So I guess to repeat what others have said...start date, time, and place please? We could always meet at the Marriott parking lot at Winward Parkway and 400.
Re: Fall Foliage Cruise - Route Selection (Black2001Z06)
As far as I know it's still on, and it looks like it'll be Sunday, October 14th.
Could we get a head count please of all those that want to attend? Of those interested, do you want to do an early start - say 7:30 AM and do the full 190 miles, or do you want to start a bit later and do a shorter trip?
We did about 2/3 of these roads a couple of weeks ago and they are a blast!
Re: Fall Foliage Cruise - Route Selection (Aviator)
Mark, ms.savewave and I are in either way. Just need to know when to show up.
Made some runs through Deal's Gap with JetJockey&C5 Sunday and he said he's in, too. Monique is going to be out of town on business, but he may bring one of his sons with him.
Re: Fall Foliage Cruise - Route Selection (Aviator)
As long as the weather is good, I am in. Christy isn't sure if she's going with me or not. I think I'd vote for a little later start time with a little shorter trip. But, I'll take it either way.
Personally, I am fine to start early in the morning but I'll bet that won't be a popular choice. In order to maximize attendance I think we need to go later/shorter. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Let's see now. 190 miles at 35 mph is less than 5.5 hours.
Sunset is after 1830 hours.
Assuming an average speed of greater than the aforementioned 35 mph, what time are you guys planning to return home?
I vote starting later than oh-daylight-fifteen (aka 0730), say 0900-1000 range? Still do the whole trip and return by 1700-1800??
