Default Fort Mill SC

I'm contemplating a retirement, possible relocation to Fort Mill SC. Can anyone offer me encouragement/or advise. Both positive and negatives sought. Housing purchasing recommendations. How are the Portrait Homes Townhouses, in Fort Mill. Thanks. I know this will probably be rerouted to off topic, but thought it would get more review here.

You are smart to stay south of the NC border. Taxes have gone threw the roof and you don't get anything for them. Look in the Ft Mill, Rock Hill, and Lake Wylie areas. Clover also has some nice housing development going in. The whole area is growing too quickly for my taste, but lots of nice areas are booming. What type of housing are you looking for?

Don't know . My cousin recently looked at and made a committment to buy a town house in Fort Mill,( Cascades?). He told me about it and thought it might be a good value at the present time. He's planning on retiring down the line. I'm currently retired. Does SC consider pensions income and do they tax them? (State income tax?)

I'm not a tax expert, but my military retirement is taxed. There is this "Homestead Act" or something like that where only part of it is taxed.

Good values, the whole place is growing and with growth comes increased values. My home here in Lake Wylie has increased over 15% just in 10 years and the increase is accelerating as the Charlotte "sprall" gets closer. One more thing, we are also being infiltrated with FL folks. Seems they are tired of hurricanes.

Bacchus just built a house on Lake Wylie didn't he? I would agree with Tom. Fort Mill is a pretty little town with Victorian house & a main street with shops. You can get a house with acreage for a modest price. The taxes are very low & you can still enjoy what Charlotte has to offer within a 45 minute drive.

Why not come down & visit?

There really aren't any negatives that I can think of except that the area gets ice storms every now & then in the winter.
