This is a ONCE in a lift time opporunity. The 75th running of Lemans, visiting europe.. you only live once. I'm not really sure where I'm going to get the money but I'll figure something out. Keep in mind LeMans is a BIG BIG deal for GM... Corvette owners can park near the race team, pit passes, sleep right next to the track, eat with the team, etc...

I contacted another shipper. They want 1200 one way and 1500 back. The C5 registry might be to get a better rate with a larger group. I'll let you all know what they say.

Can't book anything now anyways. Most shippers don't have the rates until 2 to 3 months out. The rates I have right now are as of today which is what they were 2 years ago when I shipped a car over.

The 2007 24 Hours of Le Mans will be the 75th Grand Prix of Endurance, and will take place on June 16 and June 17, 2007.

2007 will see more upgrades to the Circuit de la Sarthe, the most obvious being the reprofiling of Tetre Rouge. The new corner will be brought more inward, creating a long flowing curve instead of the sharp single point apex that it is now. These changes were planned for 2006, but budgetary concerns delayed it to 2007. New garages will also be built, allowing the ACO to grant 55 entries instead of the usual 50. [1]

German American corvette club E-mail:

It's getting time to start planning for the trip to Le Mans, France for the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Date of the race is 16 & 17 June 2007. Plan on taking Monday the 18th off since watching the end of the race, attending the party and driving back to Germany LATE Sunday night isn't the best option!

This year we are planning a few enhancements to the trip:
1) A trip to Normandy before the race. We have done this 3 times, and all who attended enjoyed the side trip (and the French know Corvette is the boss in the GT class of "their race", and love to see the cars drive thru the towns). We stay at a little bed and breakfast on the coast, and keep costs LOW (more $$$ for the Corvette tent at the race). The Normandy trip will start around 11 June 2007, exact date to be determined by those who wish to attend. On Friday morning, 15 June we will depart Normand for Le Mans and check in with our Corvette sponsors, it's about a 2 hour drive. Rooms will need to be reserved early, because June is a big month for tourists and D-Day commemorations.
2) A request has been made to stop by the Eiffle Tower at some time for a photo op with the cars and tower. This would be a "quick side trip" either on the way to Normandy, or on the way home.
3) Purchase "Pit Passes" and "Grandstand Seats". These passes/tickets sell FAST, and need to be purchased around January! More information (price, availability) will follow as I receive it.

Dates:
11 June 2007: Normandy Trip (exact date to be determined)
15 June 2007: Check in & Drivers Parade at Le Mans, France
16 June 2007: Track laps around 1200 (if possible), race starts around 1600
17 June 2007: Race ends around 1600. Party until????

I know it's early, but if you plan to attend Normand and/or Le Mans please let me know!

Sounds like a great trip, too bad I can't afford to go. Once I finish the '89, I'll be done spending $ for a while...

Take lots of pics!

G- you can get an inexpensive one at Radio Shack - otherwise, I know that the Alexandria Police use them periodically in Old Town

p.s. We should talk about that SC 560 - I have news for you that may be encouraging - C.

They aren't going to sniff, scan, listen to your car at the port. Your not moving there. Don't worry about it.
