Default NOVA: Need help locating a shop

I have decided to have my wagon wheels powder coated black. What I need is a shop that can take the wheels, dismount the tires, powder coat the wheels, and then remount and balance the tires.

I guess I need something along the lines of a custom car/race car type place.

Any ideas? Even Maryland or Central VA would be ok.

OK Waspy, I called them and spoke to some guy who could hardly speak Ye Olde English, and he told me they don't powder coat......"just paint"!

Could it be he doesn't know what powder coating is?

Check with Mike (C6FirstVette) as he has recommended a powder coating facility in the past. Don't know if they can do everything you want, i.e., dismounting the wheels and TPMS sensors, powder coating the wheels, and then remounting/balancing them or not, but I would start with his recommendation.

Unfortunately he and his lady are on another of their extended vacations to some isle in the South Pacific and will not return, I believe, until the first of the month. Might also want to check for messages posted by him on this subject.

You might try American Stripping in Manassas Park for the powder coating. I'm sure you could get a tire shop to dismount and remount and balance your tires. We have used them from our work a few times and their work has always been excellent.

I've done business with American Stripping but I'm not sure if they work on wheels.

I've sent them an email to inquire.

Worse comes to worse, I guess I can get the Goodyear store in Gainesville to take the tires off and then I can haul the wheels over to Manassas and get them done.

Any idea what the cost per wheel might be?

Yes, they will do wheels. They need the bare rims, no valve stems or wheel weights. Plus they have over 100 colors! How about purple wheels

I think I will use them
