Not true Chris. Sometimes the Harley guys ride too slow. The bikes don't handle as well as sport bikes and they are MUCH more likely to cross the center lines. I have ridden the dragon on my motorcycle for years and can tell you that one of the biggest problems is riders that go there that don't have enough experience riding and they end up overestimating their abilities.
The bike wrecks last week were: 1. A couple on a 3 wheeler that crossed the center line and hit a truck. This was NOT a crotch rocket. It was a cruiser made into an even poorer handling bike. I can't speak for the experience level of the rider. 2. A rider that braked incorrectly and went over the side. (Also on a cruiser.....I'm not sure if it was a Harley or not.)
I agree that there are some that do stupid things like the guys we saw Saturday riding between cars around the curves. But I do NOT agree that the Harley guys are and the crotch rockets are all of the problem.

I saw two seperate Harley wrecks Saturday, but neither on the Dragon. I hope everyone was okay.

If this is true, I'm going to smoke 3 packs of cigarettes a day, stay stupid drunk and drive my Vette full throttle all the time. After all, if I kill myself or anyone else, it was just our time.....
I've never been able to comprehend such a point of view. If everything is predestined, then what's the point of life or anything?

Although I agree with you on the experience factor, the size of the bike and speed is not a factor (as to slow speed).
Handling is not adversely effected by slower speed and thats no reason for a perso to cross the center line. Even at a dead stop, I can lay a fulldresssed Harley or Goldwing on it's side and move it around with little trouble. It's all about head/eye/brake/clutch and throttle control

Again, both of these issues have more to do with experience and skill, maybe even attentiveness than speed. The design of the trike does however make it less manueverable.

I agree but the majority of the foolish sheet I see done in traffic on motorcycles is done by crotch rocket riders who seem to think thier skill level is greater than it is.
Even the ones with training seem to forget the traffic and environmental factors that they can not control
Just don't see that as often out of Harley riders.
Any stats say for the last 2-3 years regrading bike crashes on the dragon and the types of scooters involved?
IIRC there have been 9 deaths on the dragon prior to the last 3 in the last 5 years or so, all out of towners. No idea of bike types.
That makes even more sense. Unless you try to familiarize yourself with your intended route, talk to peeps that have done it and such, you'll more than likely over ride your capabilities
