My wife and I are flying to Bowling Green (finally!) on Thursday for a Museum Delivery; and will be driving back to Dallas on Friday. We should be leaving Bowling Green around 2:00 pm and would like to drive 250 to 300 miles the first day.
Anyone know of a good place to stop for the night on HWY 40 west of Memphis (safe parking is the most important factor in "good" - otherwise the wife will need to sleep in the car )?
Get as far away from Memphis as you can before you stop.
As far as south of Memphis...well, you'll be in Arkansas at that point if you are traveling 40 all the way to Dallas and I am not sure where there is good to eat in Arkansas.
And Congrads on the new car, remember to post pics.
My wife and I had our NCM delivery last December and had the morning tour. By the time we were done with the factory tour, museum tour, paerwork, going over our new vert, and visiting the store for hats and t-shirts and stuff, it was about 3:30 pm before we left the NCM.
You might want to consider staying at a nice place in BG such as the Holiday Inn on University Ave (about 15 minutes away) or the Hampton Inn near the NCM or the Bed and Breakfast owned by the director of the NCM as a backup plan. If you do that ,then definitely eat at the Montana Grill in BG which is near the Holiday Inn I just mentioned. Also driving around BG is nice if you only have a few hours.
Enjoy the Ride. You will love the experience. Mark

I'd second staying overnight. BG is really nice, especially downtown. They have a nice little central park with a few nice restaurants around it. You can leave in the morning by 8am and be home before dark.
Leaving at 2:00 is cutting it really short for museum delivery. You're going to want to take your new baby back over to the plant for pictures, I guarantee! (see avatar) They're going to put your name in lights, you know.
I would just figure on staying overnight. You will have a much more pleasant and memorable experience, imo.
