Default Any SW Florida Vettes?

I am very seriously considering a move from northern Colorado to the Sarasota area. My Dad has a house in North Port that I will be staying at for a while but I have a job opportunity in Sarasota.
So I'm just looking for any info/input about the area from people in their 20's like me. I'll have free rent(living at Dad's house) as long as I want and the job pays about 50K to start and goes up pretty substantially every year.

What can a single guy in his mid 20's do for fun around there? Are all apartment and home prices outrageous? I have an '01 Z06 now that I will tow down there if/when I move, so I plan on continuing to work on it and actively drag race as much as possible. Are there any drag strips close by?

Thanks for any and all info, I appreciate it.

I live in bradenton an about 5min from the srq/manatee city limit. Sarasota is a happening place i suppose. i usually go on a nightly cruise through bradenton into sarasota and back home. quite a few clubs, apartments/housing isnt bad considering the housing economy is taking a huge dump now.

Bradenton Motorsports Park is like a 45min drive, and its a sweet track, awesome track prep crew. 20 bucks for thursday night test n tune, i think friday is only 15. And from what ive been told theres a small group of people in the bradenton/sarasota area now talking about getting somewhat of a informal car show/meet every so often.

Default hi

I worked in Sarasota for about a year. Lived in a hotel, was only back home like 2 days a month which sucked, but the area was so nice. Weather was great! The winter was amazing. Me and my wife might move to that area in a year or to , i may take over the operations of our sister company down there.

It doesn't get much better than SW Florida for tracks. You'll have a drag strip (www.bradentonmotorsports.com) within an hour of your house. You'll be less than two hours from Sebring and just over two hours from Homestead.

Most of us run with Chin Motorsports (www.chinmohttp://www.chinmotorsports.comtorsports.com) down here. They have the best program going. It's also the largest track event program in the country. If you want to run a Corvette you're moving to the right place.

Thanks for all the info and responses guys. I'm really looking forward to my potential move. Right now it's 20 degrees out and and close to a foot of snow on the ground here My Vette is hiberbnating in the garage right now.
I'll be down there visiting my Dad in March, may do a little house hunting just to see what prices are like. I'm just looking to stay at my Dad's place for a few months then renting a house/condo/townhome after that. I kind of have a dream of getting a little "hole in the wall" studio on or near the beach...is anything like that available?
Thanks again!

I am in Naples and since the construction has slowed somewhat many people have moved from here. There are a lot of rentals and the prices are going down bigtime. You should be able to find a nice place for a decent price. A hole in the wall or a place near the beach is hard to find. Some of the larger houses on the beach have a guest house that is rented year around because the main house is just occupied for the winter. They go quick and you have to act fast, as soon as the paper hits the street. There are a lot of Corvettes on the street down here. The posts are right Bradenton is a nice dragstrip. There is also a 1/8th mile strip in Immokalee near Ft. Myers
