I was considering this. However, I am in Charlotte. I believe a number of people are going to the Caravan at the NCM, which is the weekend after Carlisle. I will probably make my decision in the next couple of weeks.
Not sure if my trip will take me through Elizabethton, TN. But I will post back here if my decision is to go.
Just registered for the Corvettes of Carlisle. Was able to find a room in Mechanisburg, PA. According to some local Corvette owners it is just a 10 minute drive to the event. I will be heading up on 8/27 early in them morning for an early afternoon arrival.
Hopefully, we can get some other local owners together.
Heading up from ATL on Weds am...it is a 700+ mile trip so I stop in Roanoke and then leave there early Thurs am to hook up with old friends from BOS. They have a vendor spot near the grandstand. Head back Sunday am. I go up on I-85 then I-77 then I-81. The fairgrounds is only a few miles off I-81 but the traffic on Fri & Sat am is awful unless you get to fairgrounds early.
My wife is in Carlisle this weekend! (For her Dickinson College reunion). I was going pretty regularly for the past 10 years but probably won't make it this year from NC, unless I stop by without vette on the way to taking my son back to school in Boston.
[ Mechanicsburg isn't a bad drive to the fairgrounds, but there is no such thing as a 10 minute drive unless you head over at 6am. Traffic gets really bad and backups to enter can be legendary. I always thought they should create a special express line for older overheating-prone bigblocks!]

We usually leave on Thursday AM heading up and get there around 5 or 6, we take our time riding up and just try to enjoy the ride but I-81 has always been a little at times.
Last year during the ride up and back I never seen a Vette headed in the same direction as us
Good to see that there are some "locals from the south" going up. I know it will be hard to meet up on the way. I try to do a casual drive up also; no aggressive driving, speeding or such, just some top down driving and enjoying the scenary. Haven't planned the route yet, but know that I will probably leave around 6am and arrive in Mechanicsburg around 2-2:30pm. I am staying at the Wingate right off the interstate.
If you see a Victory Red C6 convertible (stock appearance) with "Whoosah" on the plate that is me. Honk and I will wave! Maybe also our paths will cross up there, you never know.
We're both about the same distance from Mechanicsburg, looks to be roughly 7.5 hrs or so.
The wife and I haven't decided what time we're leaving, i believe last year we got out of town around 9 or so, I do like the thought of getting there around 2:30 or so, check in is usually 3 maybe 4 some places.
hey everyone,
Im new to the boards and i hope to attend carlisle, my first event with my C4. i live in Virginia Beach, are there any caravans leaving from the area?
