OK guys... I am here in Miami and, my brother has a totally stock '86. What can we do to make her run better. I have heard talk of opening the air lid, etc. How do we do that? What else can we do cheaply?
Hey Jim! Yep, running again...better than ever! Can't wait for you to hear her now. Sounds pretty good, if I don't say so myself! Problem is, I picked up a '95 ZR 1 motor while down here. Tryin' to figure out how to cram her in...keep you posted...

Hi Gary
Cuttin the lid is pretty simple, just get a Dremel with a cut out wheel and go around the louvres. It really doesn't do much, but I did thinK it created a little bit of a difference when accelerating from 70 up.
The "Throttle Bypass" is also in expensive, just need to go to the hardware store and buy a pipe bushing and two hose clamps if you don't have them. Use the bushing to connect the water hose into the TB to the water hose out of the TB. This will give you a little cooler air in the plenum, but again, not a OH WOW! mod
Lookin forward to seeing you again
Jack
