Getting back home from work on October first. The wife is picking me up in Atlanta and we have tickets for the Petit Lemans. Never been to the track before. Can anyone give me some tips? Best viewing area. Good time to show up before the race? anything will help.
Anywhere is a good spot to view. The corvette coral is actually not a bad place to sit on the back side in the grass. There are a few trees there for some shade. Just bring a couple of folding chairs or a blanket. You may be doing a lot of walking around too, so be prepared for that(I least I do).
Call up to the ticket office and see about getting a coral pass, they should have some. Last year I didn't get mine until the day before and I just walked up and bought one.
Its a lot of fun, and I would get there as early as possible so you can walk through the paddock area and look at all the teams/cars.
Good thing you posted this. I still need to buy my ticket. See you there!!
Lots of great viewing areas around the track. The backstretch is a favorite of mine. They are wide open and you can watch the different braking points of the cars before the curves. Also love being in the pits (all ticket holders have access). You can hit a couple of spots, do lots of walking or rent the golf cart as mentioned. I love it ! And that is coming from someone who has been to all the major NASCAR, NHRA, and some F-1 races.
The name of the vendor is Mid-Florida Golf Carts. Phone # (386) 736-0112. You might want to call soon due to the fact they only bring so many and are compleatly booked before the race. Part of the fun is the looks on peoples faces as we motor by them as they trudge up and down the steep Road Atlanta hills. I know that's bad. Also, walking time from Turn 9 to Paddock....45 mins. Golf cart....4!
As you can move about the whole infield, viewing the race is second to none - 1st turn is fun - way up the hill on the long back stretch - you are always close to the track - it is a easy treck down to the pits - not so easy coming back up - but there are shuttles!!
Hope we'll see some of you guys in the Corvette Corral. Please come up and say hi, we'll be in the MY Coupe with the C6.R license plate! It's our first time too. Maybe I can bribe someone to give us a ride in the golf cart
I hate you people (one who is outta' breath and only a qtr. way up the hill when you whiz by)

Wonder if they will rent a golf cart for just Saturday? I will have to have the wife give a call. I did get the corvette corral tickets. I will be the one sleeping. I don't get back to the states till friday morning. I am going to be jet lagged like a biotch. Just kick me and I will roll out of the way. This is gonna be worth it. Keep your fingers crossed for me making it back. I had tickets for sebring this year and work made me miss it. Gonna see me cry if it happens again.
One of my favorite spots is Spectator Hill just past turn 5. get a great view of turn 5 and turn 4.
Turn 10 is also great view from bleachers. If your tickets are good for Friday, I tink there are some support races... but practice is also great to watch.
I will be there thursday - saturday and can not wait.
I would like to know how the parade lap works. Is it for the first 100 in the corral? or do you have to register? Never been a part of it, and would like to this time.

I asked the lady about this when I ordered my tickets over the phone. She told me that the first 100 people in the Corvette Corral to sign up at 8:00 a.m. that Thursday morning will be the ones to go on the parade lap. But that's all I know too, since I've never done it either. You know I'll be there bright and early!
Crap, guess i'll have to get there much earlier than I anticipated. I was going to get there around 2-3pm. I guess I need to change my plans if I need to be there at 8am.
Hey guys, check this schedule out. It's different than the main schedule listed on Road Atlanta website. Looks like the Corvette Corral doesn't open until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. It has info on what is going on in the Corvette Corral. From looking at the schedule, this also means that I can get there later on Friday than what I thought and can sleep in a bit.
