Default 2014 Vettes for Vets

This Event is at the TALLADEGA SPEEDWAY and Museum. Basically the sessions are laps around the speedway in groups of 15 cars. Generally paced at 90mph but some do manage a little more speed. The cars are watched pretty carefully and if you behave the speed may increase some but even at 90mph on those banked turns it's blast.

Last year was a 2 session package and mostly an all day event. Buying single sessions this year will probably work out for some who can not stay all day.

Check out last years threads and videos. This is a great time.

Please “Like” our Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/Vett.../?notif_t=like

This is a great outlet for you to ask questions about the event, share news about your car, tips for making the event a success, and post pictures of your car! This is also a great place to share your videos and pictures from the 2013 event.

2014 Vettes4Vets

May 23 & 24, 2014

For those that are interested in the 2014 event, the Vettes4Vets website is almost ready. We will be making it live today, at some point. Registration is much more simple this year. We are using PayPal and asking people to mail in their registration form with the PayPal ID referenced on the registration form so I can match the payment to the form.

This year, you will be registering for each session, instead of getting 2 sessions with each registration. Our insurance costs went up over 50% from last year. We have tried to keep the costs as low as possible so the event is reasonable. We had to go up on the track sessions and the dinner party tickets. We hope that by breaking it down to a single session, people can still participate at a reasonable cost. Here is a quick break-down of the costs for 2014:

1 5-lap session $ 60.00 each You can register for as many as you want. Each session you purchase will give you a unique number (twice as many as last year).
1 Dinner Ticket $ 30.00 each This includes the museum pass, the dinner, and a ticket to the Veteran Appreciation program.
1 T-Shirt $ 20.00 each I am not 100% sure on this. The pre-sold t-shirts were $15.00 last year and they were $20 at the track.
1 Dash Plaque $ 5.00 each This is the same price as last year
1 72 Vette $ 75,000.00 Unfortunately, there is only one of these and once it is gone, it’s gone.

Please let me know if you have any trouble registering.

If you are not returning this year, please accept my sincere thanks for your support and have a safe Memorial Day.

Thank you so much for your continued support.

I've been waiting for you to start this thread for a long time Robert! Yes I will be there. Even with the slight cost increase this is still a bargain.

Tim, I hope to have the privledge of being lined up right behind you again this year, Mr video expert extraordinaire! I also look forward to your many pictures. You took the one in my avatar.

We are certainly looking forward again to this event. Such a great cause and we have a ton of fun.

I guess we should start a Corvette Forum Grouping. Last year we had 2 great groups so maybe this year can be a repeat.

My only suggestion, same as last year is to get like minded drivers together. It seemed to work out great last year.

Really looking forward to seeing you guys again.

Tim, Still haven't made the Laredo trip but am still planning on stopping by if time allows.

So far the 3 of us in this thread ran in the exact order of posting last year. Lol

I'd surely be in for a corvette forum group again. I spoke with Jeff W today and he said he'd be glad to group up CF members like last year.

I'm buying 8 sessions. Lets sells this event out this year.

I started 3 threads I wonder if the mods should combine them so we can keep up with the postings? Well actually more if a thread is in the other generations.

Did our line up work out? I was up front so i saw the rest of ya'll in the rearview...

What hotel are ya'll staying at? Survyvors dinner at Cracker Barrel again? so many questions.

I think spreading the word to other generations will help car count so not combining them would better.. We've always stayed at the Hampton and when I called today they gave me the discounted rate the host hotel is giving. King sized bed for 2 adult's was $79.00 a night..

Survivor dinner at Cracker Barrel sounds good to us also !! I think the line up from last year for our group worked out nicely. But Robert just remember to hang around for the "last" one because that's the one I'm look forward to..

Registering this evening for the trip. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and another forum member lineup at the track.

I'm making hotel reservations too. Messed around last year and had to stay in Oxford.

Hey Craig ! Keith's daughter is getting married in New Orleans that weekend so he won't be making this years event. He is going to donate and buy sessions and I'll use them myself. He was bad wanting to go to Talladega this year!

I'm just hoping a full tank of gas will be enough.

Last year I was showing 7mpg (instant) down the backstretch, but I'm sure I averaged much better overall.

Plus I want to run the spirited bonus laps at the end of the day. Happy hour!

Man that would suck to miss 'Dega, and for a wedding of all things.

Default Iam definitely in!

Yep this marks my 5 year return as well! I must say I have more fun at this event in my own vette then when I took out a stock car last October on this track. I kid you not! Seriously! The vette, believe it or not, to me handled a lot better. Granted I wasn't doing 180 into the turns. It is one experience I recommend to all to get in on. I agree the small increase in price is no big deal. To do something like this on a comparable track like Daytona costs in the thousands. UPDATE: From what it looks like, you can't even do something like this on Daytona's International Speedway anymore! (bummer). So, we all owe a great big thanks to Jeff Williams and all the volunteers who make this happen each year and for such a bargain!

Can't wait! The ticker is ticking down!

Each year I offer my support and this year is no exception. Lets start to get Corvette Forum Groups organized. More then likely will will end up with 2 and possibly 3 this year depending upon participation. Chime in along with if you mind running in the front or back.

Vince and I will be there again this year, looking forward to seeing everyone again. We will probably do a morning session and an afternoon session depending on how it shakes out. If possible, our preference would be mid pack.
