Likely to relocate to the area for work, what can people tell me about the area? Where's good places to live? Will be working in Melbourne, trying to stay under a 45 minute or so commute.
Take a look at Vero Beach. Vero is about 35-45 south of Melbourne. Nice easy going town. I would look at the extreme western part or the extreme eastern part. Nice downtown and some great beaches.
Good luck!
Probably looking to be a bit closer than Vero. Funny story - I grew up in Palm Beach Gardens, and almost moved to Vero to some magnet school as dad was looking at a job up there. Didn't end up happening though.
As you know, everything happens for a reason! Sebastian is the town north of Vero. Don't know much about it. Palm Bay might be an option. Honestly not sure how close it to Melbourne though.
Not too familiar with Merritt Island. Have heard it’s really nice. Viera and Palm Bay are good options. What I like about them is that you start to leave the “South Florida Tropics” as you go north. Not as many Palm trees and fewer houses with tile roofs. We’re in a Port St Lucie. PSL is about a half hour south of Vero. It is considered the beginning of “South Florida”. If I had to do it all over again, I would look at the Jacksonville or Tallahassee area.
Cocoa is one of the places I've been looking. I looked into Indialantic and Indian Harbor, but probably not gonna have enough space for what we need in our budget.
I live in rockledge, just south of cocoa and just north of Melbourne. Low crime, good housing prices, quiet and out of the city traffic but close enough to the highway to get where you need to go. Cocoa is a very high crime area so avoid it like the plague. Also look at Viera.
We’ve lived in the Viera/Suntree area since we moved here 10 years ago. It’s perfect for us since we still have kids at home. Parts of Merritt Island are great, some not so much. The nice thing is that compared to a lot of Florida, cost of living around here is pretty reasonable and there isn’t much raffia to speak of.
