I'm originally from SW Penn, been in FL almost 24 years, I love the cold fronts we get here, very refreshing....like biting into a York peppermint patty....
I've only been here 3 years and I hate the cold fronts. Dealt with cold weather for 50 years in Illinois. I'll take warm and humid every day.

Coldest place I ever visited was IL. Was a traveling salesman years back. I took a pic for my wife showing the car dash, showing 0 degrees. (Ended up -15 that night). Got a banana from the Continental breakfast as I left out of the hotel one morning. Did not eat it and left it in the rental. Next morning that bright yellow banana had turned a solid black. A pretty interesting thing to see for a Floriduh man. Nice to visit for a few days, but no way in haydees would I live in such a place. You couldn’t pay me enough.

I lived up there first 25 years of my life, Pittsburgh area and i will never move back because of the winters. I don't mind the 50s/60s we get here for a short time every year, but that is the limit for me.
I dunno... I grew up and went to college in FL. Sitting up a bit north now the weather back in FL seems inviting...in December anyway. But when you live there full time the 8-10 months (depending if you are north FL or south FL) of oppressive heat and humidity gets old. They don't call the football field at UF the swamp for nothing.
But note and beware: Last year Walton County beaches encountered two separate shark attacks. One was to a young gal named Lulu. She lost a hand and the opposite side leg (had to be amputated). Remarkable gal in high spirits. This happened further east off of 30A. Google Lulu shark attack Florida for more on story.
