Are there a lot of "vette" things to do in NC? Either Charlotte of the Raleigh/Durham area are on my radar. How's the weather? Do you guys get to keep the vette on the streets for 10 months out of the year or so?
Any groups I can meet up with?
How about cruises, AutoX or road race tracks?
Is it sparsely populated or would a non-stop guy like me have enough to do?
I also like to ride ATV's. :steering:
I keep both of mine running 12 months of the year. Our Corvette Club had caravans 11 of the 12 months in 2002. We missed July... to hot... NCCC and SCCA has regular Autocrosses. I love to just take off and cruise by myself thru western NC. The Blue Ridge Parkway is wonderful 8 - 10 months of the year. There are times that the Parkway is closed due to snow or ice... I find there are more places to "Vette" in the south east than there were in California. Now Colorado was some what of a different story.
There are worse places to live that NC... but not many better in my oponion
There's alot of formal and nonformal groups. Queen City
Corvettes and Good Times are the formal ones. Race City Gang is informal and is more of a get together eat, drink and talk corvettes. There are several 1/8 mile drags and Rockingham has 1/4 track. More Performance is the place to go in Charlotte for mods. Moreperfomanceinc.com. 90+ weather with sweltering humidity makes spring, fall and winter easier on the cars.
Wow, it looks like there's a lot to do vettewise.
Bobstoy, you used to livei n CA? So you like NC better huh? Worse places to live there or in the US in general?
So, sweltering humidity. That gets me kinda. Worse than a 100 degree day in Sacramento?
The wife and I are originally from upstate NY and moving back east will be happening pretty soon!

Uwharrie National Forest in Troy N.C. has trails that you can ride ATV's on.
Its about an hour drive north of Charlotte. Thats the closest to Charlotte I can think of.

Never lived in CA... but have driven thru the state many times... some great places but with the exception of the Giant Trees and Yosemite, the sights in the high country of Western NC in my oponion is better...
There have been times that the humidity and heat combination here is frankly worse that Sacramento or Fresno... the only thing is that you are only a hour from the mountains when you are in either Sacremento or Fresno. Charlotte is 2 to 2 1/2 hours from the mountains...
Move to Charlotte, you will love it. If you do it by September you can participate in "Corvette's in the Queen City." GM is one of the sponsors and if you are into NASCAR there will be tours of both the DEI and Hendrick race shops. I used to be single and had a blast here. Things settled down for me somewhat now but I still manage to take the Vette for a drive down the center of town on a Saturday night for the normal oohs and aaahs from the folks dinning at the outdoor cafes.

Barely Legal,
As a couple of others have commented the Charlotte area is alive and active with 'Vette activities. BobsToy said our club caravanned 11 out of the past 12 months, but he didn't include the other activities we participated in: parades, breakaway cruises (non-club sponsored, spur of the moment trips), weeknight dinners, Sunday night ice creams...the list is endless. As Monte Hall says, "Come on Down!"
And...my wife made one of our Corvettes an ATV when she wiped out half of a forest, but that's another story entirely.
