[RCG] Bondurant School
Hi all, been a while since I been to any of the get togethers or even on the forum. :bb
I was curious if anyone has been to the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving? (no jokes about Preacher's accident ;) )
My dad and I are going the end of this month for the 3-Day Grand Prix Road Racing class. Might stay for the 4th day and drive the actual Formula 1 cars.
A few people have sent my dad letters/emails about their experiences at the school after an article appeared in the March 28th Charlotte Observer. (The article was about his corvette collection and his upcomming trip to the school) They gave us a very general idea what to expect. Oh, and recommended NOT eating before doing the exercises on the skid pad! :U
Just curious about any opinions or experiences any one has had.
Bondurant's school is a little to far for me to go (Arizona).
I have been doing the one day classes at Carolinas Motorsport Park in Kershaw S.C. using my car. It is not as detailed an instruction as Bondurant but you can learn the basics, It takes no time to figure out that a Vette can go faster then your capable of driving.
IMHO everyone who drives a Vette needs to go to some type of high perfomance driving class.
Have fun on your trip and plan on staying for the 4th day that stuff is addictive, let us know what you think when you get back.
Good School  Have a blast.
:steering:
Then you get back we can help you get you and your car into some High Performance Drivning Schools here on the east coast. http://www.trackschedule.com then sroll down to calander.
Also a number of vettes will be at VIRginia International Raceway June 19-20 for a High Performance Drivining School. Come Join us.
I just did 3 Day Grand Prix this April and loved it!! I've been doing HPDEs and Time Trials for years, never realized the mistakes I was making until this class.
You use plain C5 cars, not Z06, but they're plenty quick enough on his 1.6mi course.
Good mix of classroom instruction and seat time, great instructors, well-prepped cars. I cracked at least one set of rotors each day, and every time I got the car back it had fresh ones installed.
Might stay for the 4th day and drive the actual Formula 1 cars.
Oh, and recommended NOT eating before doing the exercises on the skid pad! :U
The F-1 racers, are they this years or older years? Which team are leasing them out? The best time to eat is around 3 hours before the driving. Your stomach will like you better then in 1 hour :U You can drink fluids when ever your thursty. :smiliedrool:
