Jack (Black84) started a thread today and showed us his RCG avatar. I think Jack has a great idea and I like the avatar, but it is a little hard to read. So, what do you think about having an Avatar contest? The "prize" for the winner will be the honor of having their artwork submitted as the RCG's official avatar!
I suggest that we set a time limit of 6:00pm on Saturday, May 1st. At our monthly meeting (T-Bone's on Sunday the 2nd....right Strick?) we will vote for the best avatar. If you can't attend the meeting you can email me your vote and I will present it for you.
To submit your avatar, all you need to do is create it and upload it to your profile. Just reply to this thread with your new avatar and indicate that it is your entry.
I simply went to the Race City web page and reduced the "logo" to largest acceptable dimensions for an avatar. I think whatever we use for the avatar should also be our "official" logo. I am not 100% sure I can make the May 1st meeting but will try...
You're correct. T-Bones on the Lake on May 2nd. It's about time we come up with a good creative attractive logo for our club. Good idea Mark. Thanks to Jack for getting the creative juices going.
Oh, which city do we say we're from? Mooresville or Charlotte? What about the Carolinas?
That is how we came up with the name...Mooresville is ''Race City USA''. :yesnod:
Yeah, BUT, everyone thinks Charlotte is "Race City" because of the track and it's NASCAR history. Does Mooresville have a track? Or is this where everyone who races lives? Not everyone outside of the Carolinas has a clue where or what Moorseville is, but everybody that knows how to spell race, knows about Charlotte. We can always change the banner.
I have a feeling I'm going to get flamed for this one.

I had no idea Mooresville was called that, I thought that the "Race City" was Charlotte. I had never even heard of Mooresvile till I met you folks. (I knew the banner said Mooresville but I thought it was because that is where it started, not because of the name.)
Once upon a time, not too many years ago (maybe 40) most of the race teams that were consistant and usually found at the head of the pack were headquartered in Charlotte. As time passed (and Charlotte taxes escalated) most of those teams began moving out of Charlotte. The tax structure in Iredell County was attractive and I think that perhaps the county may have provided some incentives for businesses to move in, voila, many of those very same successful race teams are now headquartered in Mooresville (Southern Iredell County). A good percentage of the "higher-ups" with those race teams are living on Lake Norman... of course a good number of those teams from 40 years ago have evolved into different teams. At any rate, Mooresville is Race City, USA.

I think since Charlotte is the largest city next to the speedway, which is actually in Concord, that many people think that the track is within the city's boundaries. A good number of the crews & drivers live in Iredell county, Thomasville hosts quite a few of the engineers & the Lake Norman area seems to be popular with the crew chiefs. Does this matter... in the long run no, but to stick with the roots of the RCG Mooresville would be the appropriate location.
I still like Charlotte, BUT I will yield to Mooresville if that is what the majority wants.
Well I think that it could be customized to reflect where the member lives. Even if the club had its roots in Mooresville perhaps it could be designed to say something like Mooresville, NC - Lake Wylie, SC. I realize that would be tough to fit on so small an image.
