Everyone!

Here's an update!

The weather is looking great! Should be in the 50's as we gather early for an early dinner or later for the walk down to Merchant's square. Looks like temps could dip into the high 40's by the time the event is over and we are working our way back toward our cars.

I checked again with the restaurant, and they assured me that if we get in around 3 pm, they will have adequate room and staff to feed us well and get us out in sufficient time to work our way to Merchant;s square well ahead of the 6:15 Fireworks light off

For those not coming for early dinner, I suggest you gather in the parking lot no latter than 5PM. That's the time we will probably start the walk down to Merchant's Square. It is fun to make this trip in the waning hours of daylight. From past experience it seems like the best viewing area is on Duke of Gloucester Street down near the Courthouse of 1776 and the Magazine.

My cell phone is 757 880 7182 in case you need directions that day. If you have any questions, e mail me at buydavette@aol.com

Really looking forward to it

Jack

Hey

Tony... the bad news is the Coleman bridge is going to be closed from 1pm to 3pm for "repairs" Every time they try to fix the &$%$##* thing it takes them longer than they think! Must be some serious stuff since they are planning to close it two hours in the morning and then two hours in the afternoon!

The good news is the weather is looking better all the time! Now they are forecasting 60's in the afternoon which should mean delightful weather for the Fireworks!

In case Jo Anne and I are late, the restaurant is in the shopping center, "Sal's by Victor" please get everyone headed that way!

BTW, I understand that just to prove he has no hard feelings toward the restaurant, Tim may pick up the tab for all of us!

seeya

Jack

Anyone who plans to go to the Grand Illumination from north of Richmond should run some gas out of their cars on Saturday and then drive south to exit 87(Lewistown Rd). Turn left and go about 3/4 mi to Ashcake Rd. Turn right and follow Ashcake(which becomes Peaks) to RT301 S. Turn right and go a mile to the Shell Station. They are currently selling Shell V Power 93 Octane for $1.79. Regular gas is $1.63. This station was closed down because Rt 301 was washed out during Tropical Storm Gaston. The new management is trying to bring customers in. All of my cars love $1.79 premium gasoline.

Oh yeah, 301 runs into 295 about 5 miles south of the Shell Station.

Everything is "lookin good"! Remember it is the Williamsburg Shopping center on Route 60 just east of Monticello Ave

I went by the restaurant this afternoon and they reassured me they could get us in and out in time to walk down to the Grand Illumination.

If Jo Anne and I are late because of the Coleman Bridge thing, please start into the restaurant, "Sal's by Victor" before 3:30 to be sure we are done in time:

Weather is looking like "ratpack weather" 61 degrees during the day and dropping to mid 40's later in the evening! Just right for Christmas celebration!

If any of you have not been to a GI before, bring a camera! It is a "Hallmark Moment"!

seeya tomorrow

Jack

Jack, Donna and I will definitely be there. We won't have the vette though because Donna wants to do some shopping before we go and somehow there just isn't enough room in the vette.
