Default Code reader for 2002 Ford. Anyone?

The SES light is on in my wife's Explorer. Anyone have a reader I can borrow?

Thanks

Doesn't Autozone advertise that they will read codes for free? Seems to me I saw that somewhere. Maybe it was Pep Boys or Checker.

Jim, both of these places will check your codes for free. I've done my '99 Blazer at AutoZone, and cleared the code with their reader.

It's actually been a pretty good car. No problems at all with 80k mi. Probably be selling it within a few months for something bigger so I don't want to put any $ into it.

You have 80K miles...and you're still on the first tranny? Sounds like a "one-in-million" Ford! You might want to keep it.

something bigger? Expialadocious?

I went to AutoZone and they handed me their scanner. Showed code P1410 which is EGR related. I'll fix it in a year when the smog is due .
Leaning toward a new Suburban or possibly a 2008 Toyota Sequioa. I'm sure they both cost about $100 to fill up .

The tranny in our Expedition died at 56,000. Luckily, I opted for the 60,000 mile warranty when we bought it and it died just in time.

If it is smog related, it will most likely be covered under warranty. I just took my 02 F150 in for a smog related code, and it was covered under the warranty.
