Professional Networking in SFV/Westside?
Hello all-
Is anyone out there interested in putting together a professional networking group in the San Fernando Valley/Westside area (anywhere between Northridge and Century City) that would meet for breakfast once or twice per month? I'm sure the working professionals among us already belong to a group or two (myself included), but I thought a group made up of Corvette owners would give us an opportunity to mix work with play.
I haven't really thought about any of the details yet - I'd just like to gauge interest at this point. If you're interested, please post a reply. If there are enough positive replies, I'll take the next step and attempt to coordinate a breakfast.
Thanks for considering...
-Dave

Thanks for the invite George! Actually, I've already been out to "Valley Vettes" a few times and it's a great event. I'm the big guy who sometimes has his young son in tow (btw - can't make it tomorrow because I'll be camping).
What I'm looking to put together is sort of a hybrid of the "Valley Vettes" event and a more traditional professional business networking group. A little less "car show" and a little more business. A complement to "Valley Vettes", not competition. Kind of like a Rotary club for Vette owners.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm seeing a lot of nervousness in my industry right now. I'm looking for ways to develop new business relationships to help fight off what could be tough times ahead. A networking group of Corvette Owning Professionals (COPs - I just thought that one up) sounds to me like a way to do that while still managing to have some fun.
I'd envision meeting once or twice a month for breakfast on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning around 7:30AM at a local deli, coffee shop, etc... In addition to talking about Corvettes and telling war stories, we could learn more about one another's businesses so that we can in turn help each other grow those businesses (and thus afford more mods or track time). We'd monitor the "members" of the group to make sure that we're not all in competition with one another (a CPA wouldn't want to join a group with 5 other CPA's).
In my experience, it takes AT LEAST 6 - 8 dedicated people to give one of these groups a chance of surviving and it can take a while before we're comfortable enough with one another to begin referring business. I'd like a few more positive responses before moving forward. Anyone else interested??
