Thanks, Paul and Lew. Great run. Nice meeting you all. We just got home. Had dinner at the Hitching Post and breakfast at Anderson's Split Pea. See you all next year.

We had a good time, even though we missed the beginning and didn’t get home until nearly midnight.
We worked late Friday night and early Saturday morning replacing the front control arms and suspension, so that we could go.
Once we got it back on all four wheels, my son wiped off the fingerprints (no time to wash & wax) and we hit the road, meeting up with the group in Santa Barbara.
After having lunch with the Tripp brothers again, we joined in for the afternoon drive. That twisty road through the trees is a blast and this year we were able to continue on with everyone for the last section up to Pine Mountain.
As we pulled in, we heard a squeak and didn’t think much about it, believing it was probably just the tire touching the sway bar which only has about 1/4” clearance. Then when we got ready to leave, my son Nicholas looked underneath and found a surprise - We broke the leaf spring.
My wife ended up borrowing our friends trailer and coming to get us, and we finally made it back home at 11:50 last night.
Even with the broken spring, we still had a good time. However, my opinion of VBP components has definitely taken a hit this past week.

We did hit a big bump at one point and heard a sound under the car, but thought it was a rock or something hitting the underside. Looking back now, I think the noise was the spring cracking. However, it wasn't completely "broken" yet, because the car still sat at the correct height when we stopped the next two times.
I think it finally gave out right before Pine Mtn, or just as we turned in.
When I was turning the corner was when I first heard the squeaking noise of the drivers side tire rubbing. I listened to it as we went up through the parking lot, but thought it was probably just the sway bar rubbing the tire.
I think if it had happened any earlier, I would have heard more noise or there would have been marks on the tire, but there wasn't.
The funny thing is, when I got out of the car at the fuel pumps, I was as bit sore from sitting and jokingly said "I swear these cars get lower as the day goes on."
MINE DID GET LOWER!!!
Like I said earlier, we still had a good time overall.
It was good to see everyone out there, and with a little luck, we'll try to do the whole route next year.
