[PICS] Monterey Historics 2004
Another week where the Monterey Peninsula becomes the center of the automotive universe! Unbelieveable events, cars, auctions, races, and people combine to make it such a special event. Where else can you go and find 7 Ferraris and 4 Lambos all parked on the same side of the street within 4 blocks!
Here we go!

I too ODed on car candy this weekend. No place else on the planet like Monterey this time of year. In downtown Carmel I actually got used to seeing so many modern Ferrari 360s driving by that I subconsciously was ignoring them in favor of "more interesting" cars!
For those who haven't been there, the lovely street scenes here are in downtown Pacific Grove, the annual Pacific Grove Concours Auto Rally -- pgautorally.com You can bring any interesting car you have, it costs $50 to enter your car, the cars are displayed as you see them from 1 to 6 p.m., then they all go on a gorgeous hour-long cruise, including parts of 17 Mile Drive. Man, I am definitely gonna be in that group next year! That way you can take part in the weekend instead of only drooling at everyone else who's involved, as great as that is.
One highpoint at the historic races was the demo laps of Schumacher's 2003 F1 championship Ferrari by a factory test driver. Geezzzz -- I never heard a sound like that before! -- like a musical buzz saw -- or seen any car go thru the Corkscrew that fast either. And there were do many other high points of the weekend!
Guys, if you've never been to the Monterey weekend, you really have to put it on your list of things to do before you croak!

Hey Alex,
Thanks for taking the pics for us. Richard took the following pic on Sunday and it's my favorite. I think the caption should be "the dream begins"

Yep, can't believe all this was in my backyard and I was shut inside writing a term paper. It was enjoyable to walk outside and see all the exotics and corvettes stopped at the stop sign outside my house. I have never seen so many nice cars. I will definitely catch it next year. I was soo looking forward to meeting a few folks and talking about cars. I guess it is the price you pay for being a student. Arrrrghhh! Thanks for the pics. Hopefully see and meet you all next year.

Can you give me some more insight as to the ALMS race? Will definitely put it on my calender. Price to get in the gate? Thanks. Sure looked like a lot of fun last weekend. How far are you from Monterey? Thanks,

By the way Ray, you got your drool all over my just Zainoed Torch Red Paint. This cost me 2.5 points in the judging and probably cost me 1st Place this year. Seriously, It was once again alot of fun with great people. Though we did miss some of the Usual Suspects this year.
