Default Hello

Hello i am passing on this request from the UnitedStangs Chapter President.
Greetings Corvette Forum,

This is Jason Forsyth (a.k.a. - BigJnSA on www.UnitedStangs.com) and since I am the San Antonio Chapter President & Events Coordinator, I wanted to approach you guys about a mutually beneficial deal. We all love our sports cars, and love to cruise and show them off. However, the Friday night car hangouts are nothing like they used to be just a few years ago. With help from some of the premier local performance car clubs, I'm hoping we can all come together and revive the local car scene. I believe we have all been to the Pig Stand and Biffs on a Friday night, and there are a few nice rides out there. What I would like to see is a huge parking lot full of bad *** Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes and other late model American Muscle.

That's where you come in. I am lining up members of United Stangs to make a weekly attempt to show up and hang out at a new spot, and I am hoping you can rally your buddies to do the same. A lot of people know that Bun N Barrel on Austin Highway was a major car spot over the last several decades. A lot of stupidity which led into an overflow of police, got that scene shut down. A few years ago, a hamburger joint named Harpers opened up down the street from Bun N Barrel. It had a decent showing of hot rods but eventually was over-run by 2 Fast and 2 Furious wanna-be Hondas and when Harpers closed down, once again, so did the car scene. Fast forward to today. Harpers Burgers Joint is now Blanco's Mexican Restaurant. ( 1240 Austin Hwy.) The owner of Blanco's has welcomed us to use the parking lot. (which is several times bigger than Pig Stand or Biffs) He also said that since they don't have a liquor license, you can bring your own beer and are free to drink it in the parking lot. I think this is a perfect opportunity to re-claim Friday night!

I am going to contact other local car clubs, and make them aware of this. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank You for taking the time to read this, and I hope I get the opportunity to meet you there!

Hmm...seems like an interesting idea, though as a general rule I try and keep the vette north of 410. Is this a safe and well-lit area? Nice surroundings? I'll have to check it out in person when I'm back in town, but just something to think about as expensive, flashy vehicles start showing up in same place on a regular basis....
