Default Car Wax

So, after hearing so much fanfare about Zaino's car car products, I've been in the market to buy a few Zaino products to wax my car. I ran across this very detailed test that a guy did on his black Porsche to test Zaino vs Meguiar's. I think I'll be picking up some Meguiar's before our drive to Stillwater this weekend

I love the meguiars products. They are great.
Are you going to do a clay bar throgh gloss, or just a wax?

When I first got the car, I bought Mothers (a victim of good marketing) Carnauba Wax. I used the dawn/clay bar/wax approach and was very disappointed with the results, or lack there of. Hopefully I'll be happier doing the whole thing again but with a better product this time. Should I re-clay bar since it was already done once or just wax over the Mothers?

I only re-clay if it needs it. If you have contaminates on your paint you should re-clay, if not don't waste your time. I do like to use a cleaner before I apply wax to make sure that i am not waxing whatever is left from my wash into my paint.

Just the Meguaries stuff you can get at any autoparts or wally world. good luck with it man. At least there won't be many bugs on the front of it after you get up here. Too cold for them.

I dont know about that. I washed the car lastnight thinking I would polish it tonight to be ready for Sunday and when I got home I had bug juice all over the front of it. That was a waste of time.

Default Help!

Hey guys. I bought a Halltech intake and am trying to put it in this morning. I have all the stock stuff out and the MAF connected to the bridge but the filter that came with the intake doesn't fit my MAF. The guy I bought it from said it came off of his '98 vert so it should fit my MAF. My excitement for my first mod is turning into frustration!

I tried calling a certain someone with a very loud, black C5 but it would seem he had too much fun last night cause his phone's turned off. I won't say Steve's name to protect his identity and innocence.

My set up is different from what I think you have, but is there another boot from the bridge to the filter?

Is this what you have?
The bottom pic is what I have on my car.

I talked to Steve and did some measuring and it looks like the filter is for a Z06 or maybe an '01 and newer. All I need is an adapter or a new filter but trying to find one on a Saturday hasn't been fruitful.

Since changing brands I would start over with everything including a good bath with Dawn dish detergent to get a nice clean canvas to work with, reclay and have fun......plus it is just fun to rub on them anyway...see you tomorrow

From the pics in the other thread it looks like it was a great time. Still sorry I had to miss it.

Anyone free this Saturday during the day? Looks like it will be sunny and a high of 45 if the weather does what they're sayin it will.

If something is going on I'm game, if not I might take the morning to swap out my exhaust and take the wheels off and clean the barrels and wheelwells really good...

Rob
