thumbs down to Houstons corvette expo 2011

My 2 cents.
Besides the +/- 7 Corvette Clubs in greater Houston who work hard each year to bring quality Vettes out for the public to see, this is the only significant indoor Vette/Chevy show in the Southern US. Vette Vues took over two years ago and has done a good job of mixing the number or Vette/Chevy vendors to the Vette/Chevy cars. The event soldout Bldg. A for the most part. There were even Vettes for sale from C1 through C6 if you were interested. I have nothing but good comments for the event and hope it is continually supported for years to come. The Camaro boys have given the show a great venue and there were at least three Chevy/Vette performance shops represented.
The opportunities in Houston and the surrounding areas, not to mention state wide are hands down some of the best opportunites in the USA! So drive, modify, purchase, sale and enjoy.
OK, maybe this was three cents worth.

This show still has a lot of bugs to be worked out, there is a definately an improvement over the last promoter. However, these folks have been around the expo and saw what the other guy did wrong and still they can't get it right. There were cars that weren't classed, judging sheets lost, judging going on during the show (not accusing anyone imparticular but there was some serious ***-kissing going on, you know who you are).
On a positive note the cars at the show were the best I've seen in a long time and it was great to see some folks I had not seen in a few years.

Lots of nice Chevys and Vettes. Saw some cool restomod C1-C2s, L88 C3 racer, and got some great ideas looking at the modded C5 and C6s.
Got to meet some vendors that I only see online (definitely going to get one of those Apsis C5 steering wheels when it goes into production).
My favorites were the Kandy Apple Red paint job on the C5, and the blown Callaway GS. The combination of the black paint, Cyber Gray GS stripes, Comp Grey GS wheels, and Callaway CF hood bulge was wicked.
The show even kept the interest of my 7-year old daughter for an hour and a half before whining started!
If we support it, hopefully it can only get better. I'll be back.

The problem I see with that is that allot of people aren't going to walk into a dealership to look at a ZR1 so as to avoid sales pressure or trying to speak to a sales person with little to no knowledge about a Corvette. Allot of people would much rather talk to a current owner. Just my opinion.

That could get real expensive. And she could end up with the Vette.
It was a road trip for me and a couple of guys from Austin.
I thought the show was alright. I don't mind the NCRS judges. I wished there were more vendors and more cars.

Oh yeah for a car driven every time i get a chance, it scored 97 out of 100-if I would have had one more red crayon it might have gotten a 98!
