Default Interest in Driving at Circuit of the Americas

This thread is to serve as interest building for Corvette owners that would like to drive at Circuit of the Americas in Austin.

COTA Track Rental info here:
http://circuitoftheamericas.com/visit/track-rental

The Drivers Edge had 140 people at this organized event:
http://www.kxan.com/dpp/news/local/a...-cota-track-ig

Nismo Performance Academy had a nice event as seen here:
http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...ence-cota.html

With American Le Mans coming to the track in September, perhaps Corvette Racing might sponser an all Corvette High Performance Driving Event. Is anybody interested and does anybody have contacts to get this event organized?

It's a great track, I was able to drive it a few weeks ago with a BMW group and was very impressed.

It was a BMWCCA day, hundreds of cars

It looks like it costs $55,000 to rent the track for one day with a limit of 36 cars/36 driver. Was your BMW group over 36 cars? The Drivers Edge was 140 cars.

COTA Track Rental info here:
http://circuitoftheamericas.com/visit/track-rental

Here is an idea of how much it will cost per person:
$55,000 / 36 drivers = $1527 per person
$55,000 / 140 drivers = $393 per person

I'd be open to anything <$500 per person.

The problem will be getting the track to agree to more than 36 folks. Those deals with Driver's Edge and BMW were very special, and it's firmly up to COTA if we see their like again.

That said, I've instructed there and driven it several times. It's a blast of a track, not to be missed. Of course, I would go back instantly should the chance arise.

I've read about the drama earlier this year about COTA canceling the contracts with some scheduled High Performance Driving Events but they came back and honored them. Perhaps, if there was interest, we could round up a proposal and see if they will accept.

If we have 100 people, ($55,000 / 100) it would come out to $550 per person.

I've driven COTA a couple of times, it's worth the premium over other TX tracks. Would love to go back!

COTA is very concerned about how participants treat the place and behave themselves. It would help to have an established org. w/ staff who know what they're doing and a good rep.

I'm definitely interested. It also sounds like the folks at COTA are greedy/sneaky bastards...just saying that based on the drama that happened earlier this year when they canceled previously scheduled events. My personal take is that they honored them due to the bad publicity it generated (it spread like wildfire)...but what do I know? Nothing...so there...LOL. Either way, I'd be in, as I'd love to drive the track.

It's just an in-demand track. With so many races there the teams book it for testing and can afford $55k/day. With a 100+ cars out there (and probably most with no racing exp) there's a bigger chance of someone f**king up the track.

I'm sure it is an in-demand track, still no reason to cancel previous contractual agreements....that's the whole greedy/sneaky bastards part. You can justify it all you want but that will always be remembered. Still, I'll overlook that and go play there someday...hopefully. Unless I get blacklisted...LOL

I'd be in if the price was appropriate.

I'd be interested if anything were to come up. Definitely agree with the others about < $500.
