Default DFW - Alignment shop

Can anyone in the DFW recommend a shop to do a custom alignment on my C5 which is extremely low to the ground

Mike,
I always go to the NTB in Grapevine. I don't know what their policy is on your custom settings but for an alignment I would guess they will set it however you want it. I like NTB because from my experiance they know what they're doing and you get to go into the workbay and watch them work on your car.

Streetwerks in Corinth (across the I-35E from North Texas Nissan). I get tires from TireRack drop-shipped there where they balance/mount the tires and do a wheel alignment. I believe you can save custom alignment configurations (i.e. track, street, auto-x, etc.) in their alignment machine. Steve Watkins is the owner.

BTW, did you know Jason Lochhead quit divine Managed Services a couple of weeks ago?

Michael.

I do my own. It takes time, but I enjoy working on my car rather than risk someone else messing it up.

See the instructions on my website (see signature).

Mez,
I would love to do my own but just assumed it required a lift and laser measuring devices. etc. etc.
Everything else I do my own also.

Pretty simple, really. Just common material and common sense.

Just check out my instructions. I did a lot of research on the internet and was surprised by the number of sites with instructions on doing it yourself.

Like I said, it does take a little more time to make the jig and set up the system. Now I can tweak my alignment settings in a few minutes then drive the car to see if I like it or not. Right now, I have my car set up with 1/8 inch toe front and 3/16" toe in the back and .5 degree negative camber back and .25 degree camber in the front. I never checked caster.

It drives very straight and not darty. If you go with zero toe front, it will seem quicker on turn it, but a little darty on the highway especially on grooved roads. If you go with zero toe in the back, I found it tended to steer and wander on the highway and was very scarry at 80 mph. So I tried 1/8" toe then to 3/16" toe in the back to get it to feel like I want. You may want something different on your car.

Most people are impressed with the Laser system. From my research, they are not any more accurate than the method I have outlined. I think the Laser system simply makes it faster and easier for the average mechanic to bill more revenue.
