Tom has had my shifter box for a month. Previously I purchased his shifter bushing. and after I got it installed I realized the rear bushing was fubar. Since this isn't installed in a vette, it's been repurposed and has a custom mount. Tom responds to emails every couple of days telling me its going out tonight. He gave me a tracking number on 4-20 and told me it was going out that day at least 4-5 times. now it is 5-7 and he has posted that he was sick and behind. I get it. We are all human, but communicate. Don't take in more work if you are sick and behind. If you start falling behind, communicate with your customers. Be honest. So far in email I've heard excuses about not being able to get seals, and they finally got in and your box will go out tonight, repeatedly. Right now they are all excuses and Tom may be a nice guy but I don't believe anything he says now. I made the mistake of referring a friend to Tom because the front shifter bushing was so nice. Now his box is being held hostage as well. They are 2 similar but not interchangeable shifter boxes, and I let him know before he got the 2nd that they were not interchangeable. Next thing we know he sends a pic of my shifter box with my buddies new shifter installed on it. We both let him know they got the shifters mixed up. That was 10 days ago. Still neither one of us have movement on the tracking numbers.
I'm going to be painfully blunt at this point. As a business Tom should be using his own paypal account or a business account. he is the vendor, and running the money through his girlfriend's account is,really creepy. As a vendor he needs to have high standards, and if he cannot do business in a reputable fashion, maybe he shouldn't be a vendor on this forum. He needs to contact every single customer and let them know where they are in the work queue, and how many are in front, how many he is doing a day, and when he expects to ship out their part.
At this point it really doesn't matter how nice the shifter is, I wish I'd never heard of Tom.
Just finish it and send it out. You've been paid (3 weeks ago). You sir are the reason I will never pre pay for anything again.
When you tell someone 4-5 times that its going out tonight, I understand that is done with good intentions. however, when you don't ship it out. What started out as good intentions, is now a lie. after lying to someone repeatedly you can't possibly expect people to trust you.
