I think I was contacted by a scammer this morning. The name he is using is LeeBG.. This is the phone number he gave.971-708-1836. (Oregan)
I could not find any information on this forum about that person. The PM I received showed the person to have joined the forum this month.
I need to add to this. I have been contacted by the same person regarding more than one for sale post. No clue what his name on here is. His number is 978)-515-2712. Everyone please be aware of him. Every time, his Paypal is limited to friends and family only.
Not doubting anyone's post, but what exactly did this guy scam someone over, i.e., what did he do???
In my case he’s pretending to be two different sellers, on different items. Then claims his PayPal is friends and family only. That way you can’t recoup your money when you don’t receive your items. He’s used the same phone number pretending to be both sellers though, so not the most intelligent scammer
I Just googled the phone number y’all listed and it appears the corvette forum isn’t the only place he is scamming folks. Looks like he’s hit some people on a Porsche forum too.

We have banned this scammer under several user IDs, including those referenced in this thread. When you get a suspicious solicitation from anyone, the best and quickest way to stop them before somebody loses money is to report their PM or post ASAP to a moderator. Use the triangle outlined in red at the top right of any post or PM.
This phone number and email address are not in our database or on the list of previously banned scammers at Corvetteforum. I note, however, that a Google search indicates this scammer has been active on a number of other sites.

What they do is monitor WTB threads and contact you outside the Forum if you have listed a phone number of email address. Sometimes they don't bother to register because they don't need to. When they do register and you havn't listed contact information in your WTB post, they will contact you by PM and then immediately try to take the conversation away from the Forum.
I'm going to move this thread to the Transactions Feedback section, where it is more likely those contacted by a scammer from other sections of the Forum would be more likely to see it.
Meanwhile, here are some guidelines on avoiding scammers. They most always have just registered and have no track record. They always insist on payment through a means that can't be reversed when you realize you have been scammed.
