What's advantage to 275's
I've got an '87 and was wondering what the advantage of putting 275's all around??? Verus staying with 255 on 17" wheels!!

The 275/40-17 tire is actually very close to the diameter and width of the original 255/50-16 (did you mean 255 on a 16" wheel?). That size will not throw off the speedo readings and the tire fits in the wheelwell.
But keep in mind that the wheel offset of the OEM 16" wheel is not the same as the 88 and later wheels. The 16" wheel had a 38mm offset while the 88 and later 17" OEM wheels had a 56mm offset. There are wheel vendors like AFS Wheels who make a ZR-1 style wheel for the 84-87 cars in a 17x9.5 (and 17x11 if you want to run 315/35's in the back) with the proper 38mm offser.
Compared to the OEM tire size of 255/50-16, there are a lot more high performance tires available in the 275/40-17 or 285/40 sizes.
