Are black chrome wheels really chrome or are they painted.

Are there reasons to stay away from this finish?

I have an CRM 09 coupe with chrome gumby's that are pitting and looking to replace them.

Depends on the manufacturer, the latest technology is PVD

“Physical Vapor Deposition.” I cannot answer the issue about the durability, there are companies that will black PVD coat your Gumby's

Chrome screams 2010 and is a dated look. If your not fond of black at least go gunmetal grey. You won’t see chrome on a C8, Mercedes, or Ferrari for a reason.

Yeah, and my friends plating shop outside of Detroit has chromed three sets of c8 wheels already. Us old farts like chrome wheels! Not to poop in anyone's salad, but black wheels on a black car/truck is sooooo overdone! I mean, talk about a belly button. It looks sinister... Nope, it looks just like the other 1,000,000,000 just like it!!
