What happens if you do not put air pressure sensors on your aftermarket wheels? I’d like to sell my old set complete with the sensors I have. The new sensors are pricing out at $130 each. At that price it is not worth it to me to have them, but what problems would I create? Would I get an error message every time I turn on the car? If I reset the computer, would it come back? What experiences have you guys had that are no longer running sensors?
You will get a "service tire mon. sys" message on your DIC every time you start the car. Reset it and go.
On 2001 and newer cars it is possible to edit the tps system out of the computer with a Tech-2 programmer to eliminate the warning message...but I don't think there's a "fix" for the earlier cars.
Look on the parts forum, these come up for sale all the time. Any sensor from a 97-00 car will work on yours. The 01+ sensors will NOT work on your car.
