Default Which track day tires for stock stingray wheels?

Which 200TW or better tires should I get? On my old Viper I ran Yokohama Advan A052 for Sonoma, Thunder Hill and Laguna. Eventually I will invest in a dedicated track day wheel and tire setup but just bought the vette and would love to do a track day with something a lot stickier than the all seasons that the previous owner put on. I wish it had the pilot 4S's but alas he took those off and put on the all seasons and sold the old tires.

Tires are a very personal choice. Did you get a track alignment yet? You're going to want to change to a different pad as well. OEM pads take decent abuse but really don't bite or provide any confidence.
Tire wise I ran Nankang CRS last year and was VERY happy with them. I'm going to give the new Bridgestone RE71-RZ a shot.

Would have to use aftermarket rims, no stock sized C8 rear tire in 20.

You're right. I overlooked that critical detail. Apologies.

Hi! I will definitely be getting a track alignment as well as have the dealership (Abel Chevrolet) overfill the tranny (I have a 2022 under an extended warranty). Thanks for the tip on the pads, I ran Carbotechs on the Viper, maybe some XP10s for the vette.

If you liked the A052s on the Viper, you’ll probably love them on the C8 too. They’re insanely quick for short sessions and canyon carving, although they do get greasy when they heat cycle out. A few guys at Laguna were also running Bridgestone RE-71RS and swore by them for consistency over longer sessions.

For stock Stingray wheels, I’d probably look at:
  • Yokohama A052 if you want max grip
  • RE-71RS for a little better durability
  • Falken RT660 if you want a cheaper track-day consumable

Honestly, anything will be better than those all-seasons on track. The car deserves real rubber before you start pushing it at Sonoma or Thunderhill.

Also worth checking Tire Agent before buying. I was comparing prices there a couple months ago and they actually had better deals on RE-71RS sets than Tire Rack at the time, plus shipping was faster for me.

Vitour P1s on 18 inch rims front and back. 295/345. Track alignment except zero toe. Significantly reduced understeer with the 295s. I like the Vitours vs the Nankangs I ran previously.

Is there a fairly affordable set of track wheels 18 in?

Apex wheels are great for track duty:
https://apexwheels.com/vehicles/chev...8-stingray-z51

I use their 18" as well as BC Forged's on my Z06 (wheels for widebody; for Z06, requires J56 brakes with e-brake caliper removed, or aftermarket calipers. Z51 should clear with stock brakes).

Are you asking me? For Z06 or Z51?

For Z51 (build thread):
BC Forged RZ39 18"x10.5" ET52 Front, 19"x12" ET52 Rear
BC Forged RZ39 18"x10.5" ET50 Front, 18"x12" ET50 Rear
APEX VS-5RS 18"x10" ET42 Front (19.1 lb), 18"x12" ET50 Rear (20.7 lb).

Tires:
Front: 295/30/18, 315/30/18 (on 10.5" wide wheels)
Rear: 345/35/18 or 345/30/19

For Z06 (build thread):
BC Forged RZ39 18"x11" ET30 Front, 18"x12.5" ET25 Rear (22.5 lb front, 23.7 lb rear)
APEX VS-5RS 19"x11" ET28 Front, 19"x13.25" ET30 Rear (20.8 lb front, 22.8 lb rear)
APEX VS-5RE 18"x11" ET28 Front, 18"x12.75" ET24 Rear (22.4 lb front, 24.9 lb rear)

Tires:
Front: 295/30/18, 295/30/19, 315/30/18, 315/30/19
Rear: 345/35/18, 345/30/19

I run BC Forged RZ39 18"x10.5" ET50 Front, 18"x12" ET50 Rear (they are actually @X25 's rims) with 295/345. Happy with them. Note however, that with a stock rear sway bar the rim will contact the control arm at full droop. No issue on the track but you need to lift the rear tire via jacking the control arm to get the wheel off.
