The four plenum openings were cut in all C3s, This is how they plugged them for AC.

Red arrows point to large black fiberglass/plastic covers which cover the underseat retractors
Blue arrows point to the where metal u-shaped seat belt guide bolts in, that the belt should slide thru. I have seen these missing on several 72s.

This shows how the frame extension for the belt guide is welded to the frame. From under the car you can barely see it, it goes in a pocket inside the fiberglass. You should be able to see the two holes in the fiberglass under the carpet. Inside should be two threaded nuts, if still present.

My fiberglass seat belt retractor covers. IIRC the carpet had a large hole here, and these covered the hole and the retractors.

My driver's fiberglass retractor cover before removal. Belt still attached. The two circles are where the u-shaped metal belt guide bolts in. You can see one of the threaded nuts on the frame extension inside the front circle.

From underneath the car. This is the same threaded weld nut. That is all you can see of the frame extension. I have to open up my fiberglass sill panels to replace them both. Fun!

My belts after seat & carpet removal. Huge recess in the floor was added after 71. Blue is the belt warning wire. Which will not connect to this incorrect retractor. Red is the metal u-shaped belt guide, still bolted in place. My pass belt guide was just bolted to the fiberglass with big washers underneath, since the frame extension rusted away.

Original style retractor with internal belt extended safety switch. This is an 18 month part, and typical rusted out. Late 72 to 73. Design change in 74, switch moved to console belt.
