This article applies to the C5, C6 and C7 Corvette (1997-current).

Your Corvette is a work of art right off the assembly line. The exterior styling is sharp and aerodynamic. However, the seasoned enthusiast will find that there are certain parts of the vehicle's body that could use some extra styling with an added touch of function. With that in mind, we introduce these grille modifications. There are several areas of the vehicle that can use or benefit from having a grille installed. Grilles can serve as protection from debris or allow ventilation for added cooling. Read on to learn more about the different grilles available and which provide the most function.

Pro Tip

Grilles not only look good but will protect your radiator and front motor components and provide extra brake cooling.

Front Grille

DIY CostC7: $669; C6: $149; C6 Z06: $229
Professional Cost1-2 hours labor minus parts
Skill LevelEasy to moderate. May require removal of front bumper.

A front grille is probably one of the best grille upgrades available. The front of your car takes the most "abuse" when it comes to road driving and even track driving. The opening on the front lower bumper is large enough that it makes it susceptible to sucking in debris that could damage your radiator or motor. A grille blocks all of the unwanted materials from going into the engine bay.

Fender Grille

DIY CostC7: $339; C6: $69.99; C6 Z06: $124.99
Professional Cost1-2 hours labor minus parts
Skill LevelEasy to moderate. Requires removal of front wheels, vents and access panels behind wheels.

This modification is mainly aesthetic. Fender grilles can provide protection from debris at high speeds on the track from entering near the fenders. It is also possible they can provide added cooling to the front brakes.

Hood Vent/Air Induction Scoop Grille

DIY CostC7: $199.99; C6 Z06: $124.99
Professional Cost1-2 hours labor minus parts
Skill LevelEasy. Most of the work is done on underside of the hood.

This modification is a lot like the front grille. Hood vent/air induction scoop grilles can provide protection and added cooling to the motor since air is directly inducted through this scoop or vent.

Rear Fender Grille

DIY CostC7: $324; C6 Z06: $124.99
Professional Cost1-2 hours labor minus parts
Skill LevelEasy to moderate. May require removal of rear wheels and access panels.

While mainly an aesthetic modification, a rear fender grille upgrade can also serve to protect the rear brakes from debris and provide added cooling.

Pro Tip

It is wise to purchase the grilles as a package to save money, but also because all of these grilles serve a useful, functional purpose in protecting your motor and components.
